Signs and Omens

Man by nature is an inquisitive, gregarious, and territorial creature; wanting and needing to mark his groups and territories as much as to assign meaning and interpretation to the naturally occurring and man made things around him. From ancient symbols carved or painted in caves, through secret societies of past and present to naturally occurring phenomenon and gang tagging we will try to find meanings and interpretations for all.

What does severed geisha head symbolize?

A lot of people say that the head is representative of Medusa. I disagree. I have heard two stories; both of which take place in Japan, not Greece.

First is the story of a geisha and a monk who fell in love, this was obviously forbidden, and as a display of their enduring love and commitment to each other they chose to be decapitated instead of renouncing their love.

My tattoo artist told me that most images of severed geisha heads take place in Fall, because most of the time a geisha would be killed in Fall after a summer of "business."

When hundreds of birds gather in trees at sunset and chirp loud what does it mean?

Not all naturally occurring phenomenon can or should be interpreted as an omen.

I believe this is one such time. In nature birds in large numbers commonly flock together. When the flock is too large to roost in a single tree they often settle in several trees. The noise they make on landing is to establish the whereabouts of flock members, to reassure those out of sight with others that the flock is still together and in some cases to pass information along to one another. Humankind is not the only creature of this world who likes to be surrounded by the comforting noises of their family and community.

Had one dead bird in front of your house then 3 in your backyard is this mean something bad?

Not all naturally occurring phenomenon can or should be interpreted as an omen.

Birds die in nature all the time, in some cases they encounter an obstacle in their flight path, and run into it to their detriment. Windows on buildings can become much like mirrors depending on the angle of the light, this can confuse a bird into thinking they can fly through the window. The impact can be fatal. If a flock of birds was startled, they would scatter, looking fora way to escape, they may have just been unlucky. As for the one in the front yard, I'd be inclined to think a local cat moved one of the bodies form the back.

I do not think you are in any danger from misfortune.
