What are the similarities between the Irish and french?

Im a "Newfoundland irishmen." The similarities depend on where you are on both islands. You can find people in waterford and match them up with someone on the Avalon peninsula, and literally an outside onlooker wouldn't be able to tell they're from different countries by the way they speak. The accents are very similar, though the accents change depending where you are on both islands.

There are a lot of cultural similarities, and in many respects Newfoundland culture is an evolution of Irish culture. many of the oldest "Newfoundland" folk songs are also Irish folk songs (such as black velvet band) and traditional newfie music is very very similar to traditional Irish music. The way they dance as well is taken straight from Ireland.

Newfoundland has been described as "the most Irish place outside of Ireland" by an Irish author.

If you go on youtube and search "Irish Newfoundland connection" you can find a documentary in the Irish language (sub titled of course) about the deep ties between the two islands.

What are the similarities between the bio-medical and complementary models of health?

The biomedical model of health looks at individual physical functioning and describes bad health and illness as the presence of disease and ill symptoms as a result of physical causes such as injury or infections and doesn't look at social and psychological factors. The social model of health looks at how society and our environment affect our everyday health and well-being, including factors such as are social class, poverty, poor housing, diet, pollution and income. Also Biomedical concentrates only on the individual, social medical does not solely concentrate on the individual.

What are the similarities between max Weber and Henri fayol?

Fayol and Weber contrast in their principles of management more so than they are alike. Fayol focused on the personal duties of management and advocated teamwork and personal initiative. Weber distrusted the personal, family-like component in favor of a bureautic organization run efficiently through competent labor specialization.

What Fayol and Weber did mostly agree upon is the benefit of a defined authority controlling the work, and division and specialization of work where employees become "experts" at what they do.

Hope this helps.

What are the similarities between William Shakespeare and Edgar Allan Poe?

It obviously depends on which play you are talking about. Tenessee Williams tended to be at least somewhat autobiographical in writing every one of his plays. But if you are interested in A Streetcar Named Desire, there are a few very significant links. - Tenessee's father was an alcoholic, and often wildly violent. These elements come into play very obviously in the character of Stanley, and more subtly when it comes to Mitch. - Tenessee's sister, Rose, was schizophrenic. She was a beautiful young girl very abosrbd in her own fantasy, but had hysterical episodes quite frequently. Tenessee used to look after her, but when she was in her late teens she had a lobotomy, which failed and left her blank and emotionless. Tenesee never forgave himself. This is clearly echoed in the relationship betwen Stella and Blanche, and Blanche shares quite a few qualities with Rose. However... -More than anything else, the character of Blanche DuBois is based on Tenessee himself. He said in various interviews 'i am Blanche DuBois'. He was a self-professed homosexual (something which caused him to be submitted to violence by his father and generally cast-out in an unkind society). He wrote the character of Stanley as an example of a man he would be both disgusted by and attracted to. He is similar to Blanche in his alcoholism and vulnerability - also, naturally in his love of literature. The play ends with the destruction and sedation of Blanche, which, although similar to the history of Rose, is more significantly a symbol of Tenessee's own personal downfall - maybe something he believed he deserved for both his own homosexuality and his neglect of his sister.

What are the similarities between Australia and Antarctica?

Some of the similarities between Australia and Antarctica are:

  • They are the only two continents completely surrounded by water (sometimes referred to as island continents). They are continents because they each sit on their own tectonic plate, and each is too large to be classed as an island.
  • They are the only two continents located completely within the southern hemisphere.
  • Their interior is quite inhospitable (more so for Antarctica) and largely made up of desert, where precipitation is less than 250 mm per year. They are the world's two driest continents.
  • The population density of each continent is very low compared to the size of the continent (In Antarctica, there is no permanent population).

What are some Similarities between rhinos and hippopotamus?

The similarities are:

  • They live in groups
  • They are extremely large
  • They love water
  • They are herbivores and feed on plants and leaves

Both are nearly hairless.

Both have tusks.

Males are called bulls, females are cows, and young are calves.

Both are found in Africa, although there are also Asian elephants.

Both are considered among the world's most dangerous animals.

"Like many other large mammals, hippos are described as K-strategists, in this case typically producing just one large, well-developed infant every couple of years (rather than large numbers of small, poorly developed young several times per year as is common among small mammals such as rodents).[10][51][52]" --http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippo

This includes elephants.

Similarities between the north and south during the antebellum period?

Neither side wanted to recruit black soldiers at the beginning.

When the Northern armies liberated Southern slaves, they had to do something with them, and put them to work around the camps, eventually allowing them into the ranks, when junior white troops saw this as an opportunity for promotion.

The Confederates did not consider putting the slaves into uniform for years. When one General suggested the idea, the comment was scratched from the records. Not until Lee was appointed General-in-Chief, only weeks before the surrender, did they start planning this, but by then it was too late to make any difference.

What are the differences and similarities between a poem and a prose?

Prose is from a Latin word [prorsus] which means 'going on straight ahead'. A piece in prose starts, and goes on until it finishes.

Verse is from a Latin word [vertere] which means 'to turn a corner'. A piece in verse goes on until it reaches the end of the line, then it 'turns a corner' and starts again (with a new line, and a fresh capital letter).

So one should really talk about the difference between Prose and Verse.

Poetry is really only a special way of reading a piece of language. In English and many other languages Poetry is usually written in Verse. But not always, English poets who have written in Prose include William Blake, Thomas Traherne, David Jones and William Shakespeare.

So the real question should be "What is the difference between Prose and Verse?" - and this is the answer.

What are the similarities and differences between Gaelic football and International rules football?

They are loosely connected and there have even been special games created taking rules from each to form a new game, but they are very different. It would actually be easier to list their differences.

Similarities include that they are football games, where a player can both kick and catch the ball. In both you can pass the ball to other players, by kicking it or punching it, but not throwing it. It is not allowed to run with the ball, and the ball must be bounded as a player runs, or can be kicked to the hand. Scores are got by scoring at each end of the field by getting the ball through posts, but the structure of the goalposts and values of scores are very different. Both are very fast games and both are very physical games. They both have a high support level in their respective countries, and both are mainly played just in their respective countries. Where nationals of the two countries live abroad, the game may also be played amongst them, but neither are what would be considered as international sports.

What are some similarities between Brazil and Mexico Government?

First, the common traits. Mexico and Canada are both North American countries, neighboring the United States of America. Also both are trade and business partners belonging to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The Quebecois population in Canada has more affinity to Mexico, as it professes the Roman Catholic religion and has a Latin-originated language (French in Quebec; Spanish in Mexico). Both countries have a rather large concentration of natural resources, but how are they exploited and by whom marks one of the greatest differences among both nations.

Now, on the differences. Mexico is a Latin American nation with a large Spanish-speaking, Roman Catholic population (Roman Catholic: 77%, Protestant: 5.2%) while Canada is an Anglo American country with a majority of English-speaking population and a more balanced mix of religions (Roman Catholic: 43% Protestant 23%). The ethnic make up of Mexico is predominantly of mestizo (60%) and Amerindian people (30%) while Canadians are predominantly Europeans (66%) and on a lesser degree, of mixed background (26%). Both Canada and Mexico are federations, but Mexico is a federal presidential republic of 31 independent states and one federal district while Canada is a parliamentary democracy with 10 provinces and 3 territories. Finally, Canada is a wealthy, resource-rich country ranking as the 14th largest economy in the world while Mexico is an emerging market which ranks on the 11th spot.

Finally, some statistics:

Population:

  • Mexico 121,736,809
  • Canada 35,099,836 (both July 2015 est.)
Land area:
  • Mexico 1,972,550 sq km (761,606 sq mi)
