Slovenia has 3 distinct regions: Mountainous/Alpine, continental and Mediteranean. Temperatures in the mountains are cold as in the rest of the European Alps. Temperatures in the continental region (most of the country) have cold winters (often below 0°c) and hot, often very hot summers (often above 30°c). The small Mediteranean region (cities of Koper and Piran) have milder winters (rarely below 0°c) and very slightly cooler summers (sometimes above 30°c). The climate in Slovenia is similar to northern Italy, northern Spain or the south of France with the exception of the mountainous region which is closer to that of Austria and Switzerland

Bled is one of the most beautiful tourist places in Slovenia . It is situated at the edge of the Triglav National Park . Bled is famous for its natural springs, thermal pools and invigorating climate.

This (2010) is the first time Serbia has been to the World Cup on her own - in 2006 it was Serbia & Montenegro, and in 1998 it was known as Yugoslavia.

Slovenia and Croatia declared independence from Yugoslavia first, which the Yugoslavia army opposed, starting a 8-day war in Slovenia and a war in Croatia lasting 2-3 years. Serbia didn't exist at the time. It was just a republic in Yugoslavia. Serbia became a proper country when all of the other republics of Yugoslavia had broken away and declared independence.

Slovenia is known for its diversity. From high mountains to the sea, with lots of caves (like Postojna cave) and other naturalmonuments. Slovenia has lots of natural parks (Like Triglav national park). If you thing about food, you should try "potica" (it's cake consisting of a sheet of pastry spread with a rich filling and rolled up). It is known for its breeding of white horses named Lipicanec.

Yes it is. It was part of Russia and in 1989 when Russia broke apart it was able to reform again.

There was no "Slovenia" or "Croatia" at the time. Both lands were part of Habsburg (Austrian) Empire until 1878. From 1878 till 1918 Austria merged with Hungary to form Austria-Hungary. After WWI Austria-Hungary fell apart. Slovenia and Croatia enjoyed a really short independence, and then, together with Serbia formed SHS State. That one was quickly replaced by SHS Kingdom, and that one was later renamed to Kingdom of Jugoslavija. The time of Austria-Hungary was also the time when most people went to seek a better life in United States. Those immigrants were correct when stating they were from Austria.
