How can one breed snails?

To breed garden snails you will need a good environment

-bowl or tank about a foot long and a foot high

-food: lettuce, cucumber or carrots (anything from a salad :) )

-a source of calcium is important for the shells to remain strong, so provide a cuttlefish, chalk or boiled egg shell.

-snails will go into a sort of hibernation if they don't have a source of water, so make sure to keep their environment moist.

-it's also very important for your snail tank to have at least 8 inches of soil for their eggs to be laid.

-snails are hermaphrodites so you can just find any two and breed them, as long as they are the same species

  • the snails will fertilize each other

-after a period of 1-2 weeks the eggs will be laid about three inches under the soil.

-eggs hatch in about a week

How do you know a snail is dead?

You'll know that it's dead when you pick up the shell and the snails gone out of the shell. The water is the best thing that shows you your snail is dead. First the water will start out all foggie and goopie, next it will start to smell kind of like fish, then it will turn black, brown and foggie. By that point it will smell HORRIBLE! If you notice all of the first things I said happening with your snails water, get it out of your house right away or else it will smell up the room it's in. And the water your snails in might not be safe to touch so if you don't want to get sick, DO NOT TOUCH IT!!!!!!! if you don't want your snail to die take care of it by making its tank as close as you can get it to look like the place where it came from so it's in its proper habitat. Feed it vegetables (NO CARROTS!), wet paper, wet card board, fish scraps, and leaves. Clean its tank EVERY day and don't put the old food back in. And the reason why my snail died was because i forgot to take care of it and i didn't make it's home like it's REAL home in the lake. The BEST thing to do it keep it in the lake or ocean, where ever you got it, cause it has a home and a family. How would you like it if you got taken away from your home and you were locked in a tiny closet and left to die. That's practically what happens with pet snails.

Why do French people love snails?

Snails as a traditional meal came from the Roman Empire. French cuisine is famous for it, but there are a lot of countries where snails are a traditional meal and they eat it more than in France. Some regions of Spain, Italy, Greece, England, Asia (they put snails in the soup), and Africa (there are giant snails). They are a great source of income for France's tourist economy.

Or: Because even the French army can catch them for food :)

Can you shoot a rifled slug through a rifled barrel?

Rifled Slugs are meant for smooth bore barrels mainly. The rifled slug is made of lead and so if you shoot it through a rifled barrel the lead touching the rifling will cause some of the lead to peal off and can build up over a very short period of time. Also the facft that you are shooting a rifled slug through a rifled barrel would cause the bullet to become extremely unstable and inaccurate. Rifle barrel sare meant for sabot slugs (slugs with a plastic wad surrounding the outside). You should eb good though to shoot a rifled slug out of your barrel with a mod choke tube, but smooth bore deer barrels are ideal.

Can pond snails live in salt water?

No they cant, they need to maintain the osmotic pressure in their bodies. Marine animals have a different salt concentration than freshwater, and therefore their cells would either lyse or shrivel up when put into different concentrations, causing the overall organism to die. And tat is also why snails die if you put salt on them
