Short answer: yes.

Thailand uses both US and European plugs seemingly at random, and runs at 220V, so you WILL need a converter and you MAY need an adapter.

Indonesia uses both European and UK plugs, and can run at 127 OR 230V, so you MAY need a converter (essentially you'll need to check every time you plug something in) and you WILL need an adapter.

What have been the positive and negative effects of colonialism in SouthEast Asia.?

Positives- building of infastructure such as roads, railways, buildings etc.

negatives- exploitation of people and resources (e.g oil) and an economy dependent on the 'mother country'- based on producing goods and providing services to them, it can also cause political instability after the country has won independance. Have a look at the Bottom Billion by Paul Collier- theres a nice section about how colonialism has influenced the poorest countries in the world.

Besides Vietnam what other Southeast Asia countries were battlefronts of the Vietnam war?

With the exception of the two official battles in Cambodia (President Nixon's "incursion" (invasion) of Cambodia, May '70, resulting in the Kent State University shooting), and Lao's (the US Army's last major offensive of the war in 1971). Lao's & Cambodia were "un-official" battlegrounds, pretty much thru-out the Vietnam War. Covert operations were almost a constant. Air America & the Raven's flew steady missions, and the B-52's bombed the NVA Ho Chi Minh trail, which is mostly located in Lao's, on a regular basis.

Why does southeast Asia called as far east?

The earth is divided into an imaginary id by lines of "latitude" and "longitude". Lines of latitude measue north and south, from 0 degrees (at the equator) to 90 degrees (at the earth's poles). Lines of longitude measue east and west, from 0 degrees to 180 degrees BUT there is no natural divider for 0 degrees and 180 degrees like ther is with the equator. SO it was agreed by navigators that 0 degrees would be the line of longitude that runs through Greenwich England. Therefore when travelling from 0 degrees (in England) to the FAR EAST (close to 180 degrees east) you are in Asian waters. If you travel to the WEST (close to 150 degrees west) you are in the United States. The reason that these terms now apply to countries and lifestyles is because China and the US (for example) are the major countries at those latitudes. Because it is on the far east.. I guess.. I mean tha!

Why did the Nixon administration become invoved in Laos-Cambodia?

At least one reason was because the Ho Chi Minh Trail went through parts of Cambodia, so the invasion of Cambodia was less of an attempt to attack the Cambodians and more an attempt to disrupt the flow of Vietnamese traffic along the trail.
