Does food in the stomach allow a person to drink heavily without becoming intoxicated?

no- not really. Food slows the rate of absorption so you won't get drunk quite so fast, but if drink heavily you will surely still become intoxicated no matter how much food you eat before or while you drink.

What happens if size of human stomach is reduced?

If the size of the human stomach is reduced, then the person in question, with the smaller stomach, will feel full after eating a smaller amount of food than he or she would have had to eat to obtain a similar sense of satiation, when he or she had a larger stomach. In other words, smaller stomachs get full faster.

What does it mean if the lower part of the stomach is hard and hurts every time you push it and if its been about a week since unprotected sex is it pregnancy?

Pregnancy is a possibility because you participated in unprotected sex although you usually wil not begin to show any physical signs of pregnancy until at least 3-4 weeks since the egg usually doesn't implant into your uterine walls until 3 days after being fertilized and the uterus will not grow signigicantly until about 2-3 months so I suggest taking an at home test if you miss your period and if you don't miss your period or the test comes back negative I suggest using a reliable form of birth control such as the pill, patch, shot, ring, IUD, or condom with a spermicide, cervical cap or diaphragm Hope everything works out for the best Good Luck and God Bless!!!

Why does a person with a low production of stomach acid have difficulty with protein digestion?

because when food goes into the stomache you need stomache acid to break the food into smaller peices so that your intestines can take what your body needs from the food and if you dont have any stomache acid then your stomache wont be able to break dont the food for the small intestine so it will be pushed through to the large intestine where e.coli will eat it.

Will holding in your stomach take inches off?

Holding in your stomach is not an exercise. What this particular stance will do is to provide you with better posture and will realign your organs into their proper places. With better posture and the organs in their places, you will be taller (you can't slouch when you do hold your stomach in), you can breathe better, and you will probably define a waist (the tummy in makes a waist appear). These advantages will encourage you to exercise, and holding the tummy in will eventually become a way of life. To take inches off, one must exercise and eat less. The appearance of less weight is what holding the tummy in does.

What does it mean when your lower back is hurting all the way to your sides of your stomach?

Is the pain sharp? If so, go to the ER RIGHT AWAY. You could have a serious kidney infection.

If the pain is dull or feels better/relieved when you stretch it's probably a strained muscle.

What drink can make your stomach flat?

Water.

Note that attempting to reduce fat in just one part of your body at a time is likely to be disappointing.

Fat reduction works like this: When you try to lose fat through calorie-burning exercises, the reduction occurs all throughout your body. Unlike muscle-building, it cannot be specifically targeted to one region. Also, the reduction in fat will not be quickly apparent because it will not be focused on only one spot on your body. So it's helpful to have a "slowly but surely" attitude.

Here's a program for the period in which you want to lose weight:

Plenty of moderate aerobic exercise, no sweetened liquids at all, and no junk food at all. Preferably no sugar, and as little added salt and processed foods as possible. Eat 3 small-portioned meals/day; do not skip breakfast; and avoid snacks. Limit your calories (better to consult a doctor or nutritionist concerning the amount), and weigh yourself 2-3 times/week. Ignore the sensation of hunger. If you see your weight diminishing at a safe, reasonable rate (1-2 pounds/week), keep it up.

Once you've reached your target weight, increase your calorie intake somewhat. And you can then have small amounts of sweetened foods or junk food on occasion (if at all), along with your regular foods (not instead of them). But keep checking your weight 2-3 times/week.

Avoid crash diets, diet pills etc. Avoid fatty cuts of meat. Walk as much as possible. Bicycling and swimming are good too.

More guidelines:

Don't concentrate on specific foods so much as on a balanced, healthy diet plus exercise. Plenty of moderate exercise rather than intense exercise, which can damage your joints.

Good nutrition means eating what your body needs, while ingesting as few harmful things as possible. It has also been described as getting enough of each of the major food categories (grains, fruits, vegetables, protein, dairy, etc.; plus plenty of water).

This will vary somewhat from one person to another; and I don't believe that there's any universal diet that can be prescribed for everyone. Avoid best-sellers with their perennial fad diets. And think twice before using any dietary supplements or weight-loss pills.

In general, one's starting point can be a menu of whole grains, whole-wheat bread, a good amount of vegetables, some fruits and nuts, fish, lean meats (in not-large amounts), and some dairy. However, this must be tweaked according to one's health, weight and other factors at the outset; and also adjusted over time, as one sees what works for him/her in particular.

What are the lifestyle changes after stomach removal?

do you mean complete stomach removal? well if its complete you will have to eat through a tube or intravenously, however research has already been able to come up with an artificial stomach that will make everything as it was before. If it a partial or almost complete removal its like if you had your stomach stapled, u eat very little but u have to eat frequent meals its no different, however u may have bile liquid build up causing fullness but no worries it will go away soon after. The stomach is very elastic, so if you eat more frequent it will grow faster and soon enough you will get back to normal. The recuperation has alot to do with the patients willingness to overcome it, and also your oncologist knowledge, its a very powerful cancer, but its only as powerful as you let it be. I strongly recommend you put in lentil soup into your diet, onions, a good vitamin c supplement, broccoli, fruits, garlic. You or whoever is battling cancer will need to eat a form of beans as i said i prefer lentils because they are rich in iron, copper and vitamins that boost the immune system this will battle anemia. Garlic or onions added to food will battle cancerous cells, and broccoli w/ vitamin c fruits like apples preferable will be another boost and battle for cancer. Its very similar to a bodybuilding diet. Basically this is the lifestyle change that you will have to do, this type of diet. You can eat what you want but make this your base food. Fish, lentils, garlic, onions, broccoli, apples, and natural beans will make you cancer free or prevent u from aquiring cancer. Everything causes lifestyle changes your life wont be a mess afterwords, you will still be able to party, work, have sex, and enjoy life. My grandmother is battling this cancer right now, and she has fought if for over 10 years because of her diet(what i told you above) doctors don't know what to say or do. I had my entire stomach removed in 1971. So it is possible to live a normal life. There are some things you adjust to such a throwing up. You do it and it's over. I lost weight but have now a normal size for my height. I did not have cancer. All the blood vessels in my stomach broke and there was no choice. The doctor had never done this operation. Most doctors don't believe me at first when I say the whole thing was taken out. It has been 40 years. If you have any questions, please ask.

Pain on right side of stomach feels like sharp bubbles something moving?

There are many people on this site who have the intention of helping you, but you do not seem to appreciate this.

Honestly, bubbles can not be sharp. It is an oxymoron. A bubble is a pocket of air that has the smallest surface area. The skin stretches tight, so it is smooth and rounded. It is impossible to have a sharp bubble, unless it has a wire frame, but then, it is not the bubble that is sharp, but the frame.

Please resubmit the question.

What is wrong with your stomach if its causing more gas?

It's usually not your stomach that's causing the gas, but your diet. High fiber diets can cause severe gas. If you have an upset stomach from gas, you might consider an over-the-counter gas remedy, such as Gas-X.

In more severe cases, it could be an ulcer, in which case, the gas is accompanied by abdominal pain. A doctor's visit should be in your near future.

Also, in other cases, gas can be a precursor to a bowel movement. This is also accompanied by slight to severe abdominal discomfort.

Congo Red Stain, NOT WRIGHT STAIN, is the most definitive way to diagnose it. You can find that information on the Mayo Clinic website. Also, if anyone watced the HOUSE t.v. show in September 2006, you probably remember that they used Congo Red Stain to diagnose Amyloidosis for a male patient.
