What is the maximum occupancy for pools?

Swimming Pools 50 for the pool area; 15 on the deck

* http://www.rcaluc.org/filemanager/plan/new//22-%20Appendix%20C.%20Determining%20Concentrations%20of%20People.pdfHowever, it of course is related to pool size, most likely in square feet, not gallons, since a diving pool would have lots of gallons, and a kiddie wading pool lots of area...some public pools in their rules posted on internet that I've accessed allow almost 300 persons.

I think Occupants per Lifeguard - in the 40 person range per lifeguard seems a more useful rule than a set number, e.g. "50 for the pool area."

How much water evaporates from a pool in south Florida?

It all depends in the relative humidity of the air at the time. If you suspect that you are loosing more water then you should. Put a bucket of water next to the pool or even better on the top step of the pool to keep it the same temperature. Mark the water level in it. then mark the water level of the pool. Leave them both alone for a couple of days. Measure the amount of water that has evaporated out of the bucket. if it is les then the amount evaporated out of the pool then you have a leak some where Either in the pool or the piping or filtration system.

How much water will a 12ft by 30inch pool hold?

Cannot be answered with only these measurements. You need to specify what shape the pool is. Also, for a rectangular pool, the length, width and depth are needed. For a round pool, the diameter and depth are needed.

Is it okay to swim in a public pool with cellulitis?

Yes, you can go swimming in a public pool or lake if you have cellulitis. But it is even better for your cellulitis if you go swimming in the ocean, because the salt helps to disinfect the cellulitis which is caused by a skin infection.

How do you find ppm?

ppm stands for "parts per million" and it is the amount of one substance in another substance. You would test for it using a test kit appropriate for whatever chemical level you are trying to determine, such as a chlorine test kit or a calcium hardness test kit.

Why do you need a beach ball under pool cover?

So that the cover does not sink when it has rain water and or leaves on it.

What does jumping in the deep end mean?

To "go off the deep end" or to "jump off the deep end" means to act irrationally or to overreact.

It is an analogy to the dangers of jumping into the deep end of a swimming pool without knowing how to swim.

What is causing the yellow line around my swimming pool liner?

Humm, depending upon the season it could be pollen especially if you have pine trees near.

Can you use diatomaceous earth in a sand filter?

This is a bad idea. Diatomaceous earth (de) will go right through a sand filter. It will end up back in the pool and then it is almost impossible to get out. Sand goes in sand filters, de goes in de filters.

How big is a competitive swimming pool?

Competitive swimming pools widely vary in width. The width (in feet) changes depending on how many lanes it has. Most competitive pools have either six, eight, or ten lanes. An official Olympic sized swimming pool is 50 meters by 25 meters. It is ten lanes wide.

What size gas line do you need to run a 250 BTU above ground pool gas heater From the meter to the heater is 70'?

You should call the manufacturer. Pentair is 800-831-7133 and Hayward is 866-429-7665. Jandy, Zodiac, is 800-822-7933. There are typical sizes i could give you, but it's gonna be very upsetting if you need to rerun piping because of low pressure.

How often should pool be chemically tested?

If you take a sample to a pool shop it takes less than a minute.

How do you roll up solar blankets for kidney shape pools Where do you attach the clips?

Picture, if you will, the reel system out over one end of the pool by about 6 - 8' from one end and straddling the width of the pool. With the straps coming down from the tubing to the cover at that 6' to 8' area directly below the reel tubing. When you are ready to roll up the cover it should reel up onto the reel from both directions of each end of the pool. It is a bit tricky to do but works great when done right. Just reverse everything when covering the pool.

Are inground swimming pools grounded?

A pool is not "grounded" but it is "bonded". Bonding requirements vary greatly from city to township and county regulations. Some governments may make you comply with the National Electric Code which is very specific and can be expensive. Others have adopted some variation that complies with the standard partially but is still sufficient to prevent "stray current" from causing harm. The pool bonding process must be completed before concrete is poured and typically a "bonding inspection" is required to make sure everything complies to the local code. Pool bonding is generally done by the pool installer, not the electrician. Your local building or zoning department can advise you on the specifics in your area. Pool & Spa

Where and how do you apply the DE to the pool filter?

Start by cleaning the entire filter. Disassemble and hose off the grids. Without this process you are just guessing as to what is already in the filter. Reassemble. The formula is usually on all DE bags . . . you have to know the square footage of the filter. This is usually stated on the name plate of the filter. Such as 36 sq.ft; 48 sq.ft.; With Hayward it is usually 4800;3600 etc. An easy to remember formula would be take the sq. ft, divide by 5, this answer will tell you how many cans or scoops of DE are dumped into the skimmer. Example: 48 div. by 5 = 10 rounded off. Note: if your filter is more than 1 yr old ~ your filter will have a residual of old DE left in the tank after each Back Wash ~ it never totally removes all the old DE and dirt during a B/W ~ this accumulates so that is why you clean out the filter tank. This formula will give you an even and uniform coating on all grids ~ the DE is what is doing the filtering not the cloth grids.

How do you replace the sand in the pool filter?

Changing laterals can be easy or not. If you have a Hayward S240 etc it's easy. If you have a one piece tank maybe not so easy. I'll address the S240 first. Drain filter. Use the drain plug under the bottom of tank. Empty the sand. You can do this with an electric vacuum which is usually used for cleaning out garages, junk rooms, etc. Remember that you will be dumping this sand and it will be wet and heavy, so dump as often as is convenient for you Clean/Hose out the tank now. You can now lift the center pipe that the laterals are attached to out of the tank. Remove the laterals. They are threaded/screwed into the standpipe. Do this carefully. Some lateral may not want to unscrew at first try. Replace with new laterals. All Hayward laterals are slotted all the way around, so you can't put them in wrong. If the laterals you have removed are slotted on one side and not on the other, the slotted side should face downward when installed. Replace with new sand: HAND FILL THE BOTTOM , AND TO APPROX. 1-2 INCHES ABOVE/OVER THE LATERALS. POUR SAND "CAREFULLY" OVER THE NEW SAND TILL APPROX. TANK IS 1/2 FULL, THEN YOU CAN POUR THE REST OF THE SAND NORMALLY. Replace the tank half w/ gasket (a new gasket would be a good idea), replace the teflon tape on the pressure gauge, new gasket for the filter dome. PUT MULTI-PORT IN 'BACKWASH' POSITION. THIS WILL AVOID SAND FROM ENTERING POOL WHEN YOU BEGIN FILTERING. TURN ON PUMP, RUN FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES, SHUT OFF, WAIT A COUPLE MINUTES (so sand can re-settle), PUT IN FILTER POSITION, TURN ON. GOOD TO GO FOR A FEW MORE YEARS PROVIDING YOU CLEAN SAND WITH A GOOD FILTER SAND CLEANER ON AN ANNUAL BASIS. GOOD LUCK/ DURHAM2
