How many quarts of transmission fluid does 2003 Toyota solara sle v6 automatic transmission need?

Five quarts of Dexron III for a typical drain, 12 quarts for a complete flush including torque converter.

If you're doing this yourself you'll need a few items. Your choice whether to replace the pan gasket only (about $8) or the strainer and gasket (about $20). The second option is best (you wouldn't change your oil without changing the filter right?)

The following is a procedure I found online posted by another Solara owner. I can't tell you it's absolutely correct but you'll at least have a guide. For a complete flush I'd recommend buying a service manual.

___________________________

-Drive car to heat up fluid (drains faster and carries more sediment). I prefer to let it sit an hour so it is not super hot but that's up to you.

-Jack up car and use jack stands for safety..

-You need to first drain fluid of course. The pan is located on the drivers side and uses a 11mm? (i forget) allen head screw. If you are not changing filter/strainer proceed to **** below

-After you drain all fluid you will need to remove all the bolts that hold the pan to the car. A good method is to leave the four screws closest to each corner tightened and remove the rest. Then you can remove the remaining corners. Loosen either the front two or rear two at a faster pace than the others so you know what end the fluid in the pan will start seeping from. After fluid has drained from pan remove it.

-Clean pan out. Clean magnets in pan and place them back in the same vicinity as you got them. Clean any old gasket residue off pan to ensure a good seal w/ the new gasket.

-Remove old strainer/filter and replace w/ a new one. This is pretty straight forward. Above the pan you will see it held in place with only 3 screws same size as pan screws except longer.

-Re-attach pan. Place gasket on the pan and push through the bolts. This will allow the gasket to retain the bolts as you place the pan back and the screws wont fall out on you while you are trying to start them. Tighten bolts in an even fashion. Criss cross is the preferred method I believe for this.

_That's it add fluid. \3.5 qts. is a good start as that is probably what came out maybe a bit more. Start car and move shifter up and down the gears. Add more fluid as necessary.

How do you change spark plugs on a 2000 Toyota Solara?

IF YOUR 2002 SOLARA IS A 3.0L ITS FAIRLY SIMPLE. THE FRIST THREE ARE RIGHT IN FRONT OF ENGINE. THE THREE BLACK BLOCKS YOU SEE ARE FASTEN TO THE VALVE COVER WITH A 10MM BOLT. THOSE BLOCKS ARE THE COIL PACKS. REMOVE THE BOLTS THEN REMOVE A SMALL WIRE HARNESS WITH A SMALL SCREW DRIVE, ITS JUST A CLIP. PULL THE COIL PACK STRAIGHT UP AND THE PLUG IS UNDER THAT. DO THAT FOR EACH COIL PACK(3). THE OTHER THREE PLUGS ARE BEHIND THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. FOLLOW THE THREE WIRES FROM THE FRONT. THESE ARE NOT COIL PACKS JUST NORMAL PLUG WIRES. IT IS TIGHT IN THE BACK BUT CAN BE DONE WITH OUT REMOVING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. I HAVE BIG HANDS AND I DID IT FINE. REMOVE THE WIRES FROM THE VALVE COVER BY PULLING THEM STRAIGHT UP THEN THE PLUG WILL BE UNDER EACH WIRE.

Why does my Solara air conditioner light flash?

The flashing light indicates a problem with the AC system. It could be a tiny coolant leak causing low (or no) pressure which you might notice as a lack of cold air from the vents. It could also be a slipping drive belt. There's a sensor on the compressor that senses when the engine is turning faster than the compressor (more properly, the speed 'ratio' isn't correct) so the light is warning of a loose belt. It could also be a bad compressor clutch or even a seized compressor (which you'd definitely hear). Unfortunately it could also be a dirty or bad sensor so you have several things to check out. When should you change the transmission fluid on a 2004 Toyota solara?

Check your owners manual. It says:

Change automatic transmission fluid only as necessary. Generally, it is necessary to change

automatic transmission fluid only if your vehicle is driven under one of the Special Operating Conditions listed in your "Scheduled Maintenance Guide" or "Owner's Manual Supplement". When changing the automatic transmission fluid, use only "Toyota Genuine ATF Type T- IV"

(ATF JWS3309 or NWS6500) to aid in assuring optimum transaxle performance.

Notice: Using automatic transmissionfluid other than "Toyota Genuine ATF Type T- IV" may cause deterioration in shift quality, locking up of your transmission accompanied by vibration, and ultimately damage the automatic transmission of your vehicle.

Where is the oil drain plug on a 2006 Toyota solara?

The oil drain plug is on the bottom of the sump (oil pan) where you'd expect it to be but it does take a little searching. There's a tendency to focus on the bottom of the transmission instead of the bottom of the engine.

As you crawl under the car look roughly a foot to the right (facing forward) of center. The drain plug faces the rear of the car and requires a 14mm socket or wrench to remove.

After being forced to hunt for mine the first time I changed oil I cleaned it thoroughly while the oil drained and spray painted it yellow. Now I can always find it easily, even when it's fallen into the oil drain pan <g>

How many miles per gallon for Toyota Camry solara 2001?

There are about half-a-dozen Solara models for that year. Some have four-cylinder engines, some are six cylinder. Some have manual transmissions while others are automatic. They all get different EPA mileage numbers. Those numbers range from a high of 20 mpg city, 29 mpg highway for the 4 cylinder manual transmission car to 17 mpg city, 24 mpg for the six-cylinder automatic transmission convertible.

If you're looking for numbers for a different model they're all posted at fueleconomy.gov.

How do you remove the rear seat in a 2000 Toyota Solara Convertible?

While not specific to your car, most are the same. Just pull up on the front of the seat. Catches will be released on each side then you can pull forward and the entire seat can be removed. No nuts, no bolts, no fuss. The backrest is usually different and may involve removing some bolts. When in doubt, you can purchase a Haynes or Clymer manual for your car (about $25 but worth it) or download the entire factory service manual from Toyota (about $10 and a super bargain).

Type of oil in 2006 Toyota solara 4 cylinder?

If you check page 301 of your owner's manual you'll discover:

Oil grade:

API grade SL "Energy- Conserving" or

ILSAC multigrade engine oil

Recommended viscosity:

SAE 5W- 30

Outside temperature

SAE 5W- 30 is the best choice for good

fuel economy and good starting in cold

weather.

If SAE 5W- 30 is not available, SAE

10W- 30 may be used. However, it

should be replaced with SAE 5W- 30 at

the next oil change

Not mentioned by the manual is whether standard old dino oil (pumped from the ground) or synthetic (manmade) oils are recommended. The answer depends a lot on the type driving you do and the depth of your bank account. Lots of around town driving, your engine will benefit in a big way from synthetic. Mostly highway use you may see a small mpg increase with synthetic.

What are the recalls for a 2000Toyota Solara?

Recall information is always available on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.

For the Y2k Solara there have been two recalls, both for exterior lighting issues. Both were instituted in 2006 so should have been taken care of long ago. If you're not sure, visit your Toyota dealer. The VIN number can be entered into the shop computer and all work done on the car (by a Toyota dealer) will be listed.

Best tires for Toyota solara 2001?

The "best tire" for any driver depends a lot on that driver. What are you looking for, very long life in the tire or great traction? Do you need an all weather tire or a quiet running tire? What's your budget? You could mount some super bargain tires and get down the road just fine or you could spend $150 each for a performance tire.

Suggestion: Go to tirerack.com and enter the information they request (you'll be asked some of the questions above). That site will help you zero in on the correct tire for your needs. With those choices (and prices) in hand you can shop locally for the same tires. Remember, Tirerack prices don't include mounting/balancing so it's unlikely a local shop will match the price.

How often change spark plugs 2007 Toyota solara?

Check your owner's manual. The Iridium tipped plugs used in most late model engines don't need changing for 100 thousand miles. That's a good thing since (on the V-6 anyway) the rear plugs are a little tough to reach.

If yours is the V-6 here's something to consider. The cam drive belt is scheduled for a change at 90 thousand miles. Since so many items are removed for that service anyway it makes sense to change the plugs and water pump at that point.

Battery size of 1999 Toyota solara sle?

I am not entirely sure. However i recommend using the computers at a store that sells battery or looking it up in your owners manual. I do know however that the battery on my 2001 has 700 cold cranking amps and it is what is recommended. I could find the exact model number and size of that battery later.

What to do when engine is locked?

I'd suggest reposting your question with more detail. It's difficult to determine whether your engine has seized due to lack of oil, whether your alarm system has locked out the starter, something in between or none of the above. Maybe you can't get the hood open?
