Can twins be missed at 12 week scan?
Yes, it is very common for one twin to hide behind the other and be missed on the scan. That's what happened to my best friend's mum, she went for a scan suspecting she was having twins, and they told her it was one baby, when she went for her 12 week, it turned out she was actually pregnant with triplets, they hid behind each other.
Keep your fingers crossed & good luck xx
Is it possible for an ultrasound to show an empty uterus and still be pregnant in the early stages?
honestly, i am having the same problem.. from my estimated due date from my lmp i shoud be 6 weeks 2 days. i have started bleeding and went to er for ultrasound. empty uterus. doc says im probably not as far along as i thought. i wanna say everything sounds ok with u as long as u are not bleeding. sometimes though empty uterus can mean the pregnancy is somewhere else though like fallopian tubes. see doctor again, request another, or just go to er to calm your nerves. best of luck us both and i will keep u in my prayers
death
An ultrasound at 6 weeks should show a fetal heartbeat, if there was a fetal heartbeat you're not miscarrying..
It's probable you estimated your due date wrong.
What does an ultrasound that said I was 7 weeks and 4 days pregnant on Wednesday Jan 25 2006 mean?
You conceived 5 weeks and 4 days earlier, sometime around 17 December. hello I am not providing an answer but a question- why do you take off 2 weeks to determine conception date?I am 5wks1day pregnant does that mean I should think i am really 3 wks1day pregnant? am having a hardtime figuring this out as I have pcos and my periods are irregular so I dont really know the length of my cycle- but if i count back 5 wksi got pregnant a day ot two after my lasperiod stopped so it would makemore sense if u do take off 2 weeks..Thanks!
It depends on how developed the baby is. In early stages you can't tell them apart. In later stages, if the baby is facing the right way, you can make out the genitalia if it's a boy.
Spotting in early pregnancy can be normal and happens more frequently than one would suspect. Check with your ob-gyn if you have not already, Avoid heavy lifting and any new exercise.
As to exactly why? I'm not sure
What are the different types of ultrasound therapy?
chronic pain treatment is one of the different types of ultrasound therapy and you also have scar pain tissue and sprains and strains and myofoscial pain and also bursitus and phantom limb pain.
How accurate is transvaginal us in early pregnancy?
US is not typically used to diagnose pregnancy unless the patient presents with vaginal bleeding or abdominal pain early in gestation or is a high-risk obstetric patient.
With the advent of transvaginal US (TVUS), the diagnosis of pregnancy can be made even earlier than is possible with transabdominal US (TAUS).
TVUS is the most accurate means of confirming intrauterine pregnancy and gestational age during the early first trimester. TVUS can help detect signs of intrauterine pregnancy approximately 1 week earlier than TAUS. Patients are not required to have a full bladder and are not required to endure uncomfortable pressure on the abdominal wall from the external probe. TVUS is also better for patients who are obese or those who guard during TAUS. One disadvantage is that some patients are anxious about the transvaginal probe and may object to its insertion. The earliest structure identified is the gestational sac. The GS can be seen on TVUS images by 4-5 weeks' gestation and grows at a rate of 1 mm/d in early gestation. By 5.5-6 weeks' gestation, a double-decidual sign can be seen, which is the GS surrounded by the thickened decidua. The presence of an early GS can be confused with a small collection of fluid or blood or the pseudo GS of an ectopic pregnancy. Because of this, the diagnosis of intrauterine pregnancy should not be made on the basis of visualization of the GS alone.
The diagnosis of intrauterine pregnancy can be made once the yolk sac is present, which also excludes ectopic pregnancy, except in the rare instance of heterotopic pregnancy.
The fetal pole is first seen on TVUS images at approximately 5-6 weeks' gestation. It should always be seen by TVUS when the GS is larger than 18 mm or by TAUS when the GS is larger than 2.5 cm. The fetal pole is a linear hyperechoic structure that grows at approximately 1 mm/d.
If I am 90 percent effaced and my doctor says I will not make another week how sure is he?
Probably pretty sure, because 90% is a lot. While there is the slim chance you could go over a week, most women will not.
My home and doctor detected that im pregnant but the ultrasound did not Are you really pregnant?
Yes pregnancy hormones rise befor the sono can see anything. It can be hard to see a baby the size of a pea.
The first trimester of a pregnancy lasts up until week 12. If you are 11 weeks pregnant and you have a competent sonographer, there is NO WAY you could miss seeing an intrauterine pregnancy (a normal pregnancy inside the uterus). If you had an ultrasound and the sonographer didn't see anything (even as early as 5 or 6 weeks you should see a gestational sac) then you have probably miscarried already. Take another pregnancy test with your doctor's guidance. Another scenario that might come up (if your pregnancy test is still positive) is that you might have an ectopic pregnancy (where the egg implanted OUTSIDE of the uterus). This is fairly common but can be a serious disorder. The egg can implant anywhere in the pelvis or abdomen, but if you're 11 weeks along and you're not in a lot of pain, then that's probably unlikely. Go back and talk to your doctor.
How quick will you see a black line on a pregnancy test when you are pregnant?
I believe it depends on how far along you are. The farther along the faster you see the line. Past experience with my youngest daughters 8 test (yes 8...I didn't want to believe it) and oldest daughters that how it worked. My oldest daughter was only a few weeks and it took awhile to see a line. However my youngest was farther along when she took the tests and it popped up immediately. Read the instructions in the pack.
Don't be alarmed if no heartbeat is detected yet. usually it can be detected around 5-6 weeks.
How many weeks between April 1 and October 13?
In any given year, including the start and end dates in the calculation, there are 27 weeks 6 days between the two dates.
I am going through exactly the same thing, I started spotting and went into the Dr. I am 9 weeks preggy, unless my dates are wrong and the baby only measured 6 weeks 1 day with no heartbeat i have to go back in on friday, i am still spotting has this happened to anyone before what was the outcome?
The reliability of a pelvic ultrasound is dependent on what factor?
The reliability of ultrasound readings can depend on the skill of the technologist or physician performing the scan.

If the doctor can't hear a baby's heartbeat how do they go about removing the baby?
Just because the doctor can't hear the baby's heartbeat does not necessarily mean that the baby is not alive. A diagnosis should not be made on that ground alone. Usually the body will deal with the baby itself, and unless you become feverish or have other symptoms of a miscarriage there is no cause for alarm. A D&C can be performed if a miscarriage occurs and is incomplete. This is a surgical operation where the uterus is scraped out under a general anesthetic and is best left until after a natural miscarriage. Ultrasounds and blood tests are better indicators of a baby's health than any method of hearing the heartbeat.
