What is the highest rank royal engineers?
The RE is a corps of the British Army, and thus uses the same rank structure as the rest of the Army, the only difference being that private soldiers are called "Sappers".
Above Sappers are Lance Corporals, Corporals, Sergeants, and senior sergeants called Staff Sergeants - equivalent to "Colour Sergeants" in the Infantry.
Above these (the most senior non-commissioned ranks ) are "Squadron Sergeant Majors" ("Squadrons" are what the RE call Companies), who are "Warrant Officers Class 2", and "Regimental Sergeant Majors", "Warrant Officers Class 1". Warrant Officers (unlike other NCOs who are called by rank and surname - eg "Corporal X" or "Sergeant Y") are always addressed as "Sir" by junior ranks, and either "Mr SURNAME", or "Sergeant Major" by officers. Most Squadrons will also have a senior NCO (generally an experienced Sergeant who has not attained Warrant ranking) called the "Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant", responsible for squadron logistics.
Officer ranks also run along the same lines as the rest of the Army: Second Lieutenants and Lieutenants (who usually command "Troops"- what the RE call platoons); Captains (typically either a Squadron second in command, commander of a specialist troop such as reconnaissance, signals etc, or maybe regimental Adjutant); Majors (Squadron commanders, or regimental second in command), and Lieutenant Colonel, who usually commands a regiment/ battalion.
"Field Grade" officers (ie Majors & Lt Cols) also typically spend time on non regimental duties such as Staff and planning appointments; senior Lieutenants and Captains will also usually spend time away from battalion duties, typically training recruits, on junior staff jobs, or on special attachments - eg a tour with Special Forces, or on "loan service" with allied armies. Senior Captains/ junior Majors also, if selected, attend Staff College as preparation for higher appointments/ command positions.
Full Colonels and above (Brigadiers, Major Generals, Lt Generals, Generals) are "Staff Officers", and hold appointments such as Brigade and Divisional commands, or in senior planning and other roles.

A method of warfare designed to destroy the opposing army and the peoples will to fight?
From the rebels perspective, it would be asymmetric warfare" which involves a lot of violence, deception and propaganda, intimidation, including extortion. The array of forces are obviously not equal, it will always be in favor of the government. The rebels will have to undermine the credibility or hold of the government and force it to appear more oppressive to its people which is the rebels basic platform. Force government to spend more running after rebels instead of providing services to its population. Nevertheless, the rebels need not be sincere in their aspirations for as long as their propaganda serve rebel platform. Now, from the point of view of the government, we can call it "good governance". Show its citizens genuine desire to serve the population Third world countries or developing countries will certainly find this difficult. These countries by and large plagued by corruption, social injustice, unstable economy, warlords the list will go on. All these problems are subsumed into all the reasons why a citizen would want to arm himself and fight government. If you want more, let me know.

How many years is one obligated to when enlisting in the US Military?
You have a total commitment of eight years - any time you spend not on active duty or in a reserve component, you'll spend in what's known as the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR). You're basically subject to recall during that time if you're needed.
The shortest enlistment period I'm aware of for time spent on active duty is two years, but again, the overall obligation is eight.

What did the soldiers in Vietnam have to suffer through?
US servicemen had to climatize to the weather of South Vietnam, unless the GI was from the US state of Louisiana or Florida, he was going to suffer until his body got used to the humidity. The GI had to get used to drinking "warm" water that looked like urine, due to it's treatment by US Army Engineers or iodine tablets. He might also come down with Malaria if he didn't take those white and yellow (tan) pills. OR HE MIGHT GET LUCKY and not get malaria at all, even if he didn't take em.
The average GI in the Vietnam War, Korean War, World War II, and probably World War I, only saw men for a year at a time. GI's were very lonely, very hungry, very filthy (a freshly showered/bathed man could be SMELLED by his fellow GI's). All roads seemed to be dirt (no pavement or asphalt) so uniforms were ALWAYs covered with dirt, mixed with sweat, the uniforms were NO LONGER OD (Olive Drab) they were nearly brown in color (reddish brown). Entertainment was eating, sleeping, and smoking a cigarette, and if a GI didn't smoke before he entered the army...he smoked now! The army issued cigarettes in EVERY "C" ration meal. 12 meals to the case.
There is a scene in the movie "PLATOON" in which actor Charlie Sheen (playing the role of real ex-GI (25th Inf Div) and now film director, OLIVER STONE) is covered with a plastic poncho on guard mount sitting in the rain amongst sleeping bodies of fellow GI's, when suddenly attacked, and he "clacks" the claymore detonator until it blows. Sleeping in those conditions as DEPICTED was an accurate showing of "sleeping in the field." One of the commonest drudgeries was wondering where he was going to sleep at night...near those bushes, or near that little mound of dirt...or near that tree or near that cemetery head stone...yes sometimes cemetaries were where ambush sites had to be set up.
Other than the weather(heat), rain, mud, dirt, insects, rats, snakes, booby traps, lack of sleep, lack of food, running out of canteen water, being lonely (home sick-except for GI buddies), nearly ALWAY's eating COLD food (C rations), the stress of having your number come up (getting killed), friendly fire from aircraft and other units on the ground, the thought of returning home to protesters (some of whom may have wished those GI's ill-will) wasn't really all that bad, with a GOOD attitude and some youth on his side (and LUCK), say about 18 years of age, he could handle it, especially if he's an adventurous youth. Besides, G-d favors the bold, and young men are bold!

Where are badges worn on army uniform?
Current U.S. Military personnel wear a nametape or nameplate just above the right breast pocket when wearing dress or battle dress uniforms. This does not follow suit for U.S. Military aviators, who are typically seen in a one piece flightsuit. Aviators wear a leather or cloth patch just above their left breast. These are generally velcro backed to allow easy removal.
Can you join the US Army if you have tourettes?
You can, but you might want to reconsider enlisting. Those with ADHD are not typically well suited for military service and typically encounter difficulties. This is not the case for all. Some with ADHD do well in a very structured environment. If you are one of these, then by all means enlist. If your doctor is unaware of the ADHD then the chances are its not on record to which my advice is to keep quiet. Dont lie though if your doctor is aware as the military will check your medical records.
