The 1998 recruit failure rate was 13.5% and had been reduced to 11.7% percent by 2006. Air Force recruits have the lowest current (2006) failure rate and the Navy has the highest failure rate.

Is the Marines a good choice?

It seems to be the most life-changing of the US Military branches. The support and inter-dependence of one Marine for another is truly awe inspiring. If you want a career or a life, it may be the right choice. If you are looking more for a 'job' then other services would be a better fit with the same financial benefits.

What is a Corpsman in the Marines?

Corporal is the first rank considered NCO or non commisioned officer. What they do in the Corps depends on what military occupational specialty they hold. Typically the corporal will be supervising those beneath him, or enforcing orders issued by those above him.

Do girls shower together in Marine boot camp?

What to do with old army uniforms?

Postal uniforms that are still in good condition can be donated to new letter carriers that take time to acquire a full complement of uniforms. Maybe I should start a network to facilitate this idea.

What is the word that marines say to each other?

We say a lot of things to each other so you'd have to be more specific. "Err" can be a greeting or a kind of acknowledgement. "Hoorah" is also used. "Errah" is another form of 'Hoorah'. We also say "Kill" which can be an acknowledgement as well. "Semper Fidelis" or just "Semper Fi" is also a term that is frequently used. It is our official motto which in Latin says "Always Faithful".

What has more action the marines or the Army?

Depends on what the future holds, and also what you do. Both services deploy frequently... rotations might be more commonplace in the Marines, as it has a much smaller force to draw from. Both forces have units which deploy regularly, and they both have units which don't deploy at all. If your purpose of enlisting is simply looking for "action", you may want to reconsider it.... after three tours as a Combat Medic in the Army, I can tell you firsthand your eagerness for "action" will wane very quickly.

Can you enlist in the army rangers without serving in the army?

No... doesn't it seem a bit of a redundant question? The Rangers are an element of the Army... to serve in an Army unit, you have to be in the Army. Don't really see any other way to go about it. If you're just interested in the school, you can go through it without being in the Army... but you'd still have to be serving in some branch of the military.

Why does the Marine Corps Mameluke sword have a star of David engraved just below the hilt?

My Father has this same sword. I noticed the Star of David also, but did you notice right below the Star of David in tiny lettering it says "China". Does yours have that engraving? How odd that a sword that is engraved " United States Marine Corps" has engraved in tiny lettering "China". I would hate to think the sword was made in China, but that's what it looks like. If so, how sad our country "outsourced" the manufacturing of our own military items.

Did the USMC ever Draft People?

What is easier marines or army?

Surely the question is asked in jest.

The Air Force Boot Camp is easier.

How much does a Sergeant in the marine corps make?

"It depends on how long they have been in

http://www.defenselink.mil/militarypay/pay/bp/01_activeduty.html"

It may also depend on how many dependents, but basically a Sergeant in The Marine Corps makes more than the PFC who just gets a measly $1100 a month, roughly. Can you say Thanks for the drilling, Uncle Sam.

What kind of star do you put on Navy and Marine Corps achievement Medal?

It depends on how many stars, what kind of stars, and how many ribbons you have...

In general...stars are worn in the middle of the medal. If you have more than one star, place them horizontally and in the middle of the medal in order of precedence. (examples: 2 stars the center line will be in between the two stars, 3 stars the center line will be the middle star).
Note: stars are placed with 1 point up and 2 points down

If you have overlapping medals, just push stars to the left until all are visible. If they cannot all be seen when placed horizontally, you can place them vertically.

hope this helps

Marine basic training requirements?

You should be able to run 5 miles in under 40 minutes in 90 degree weather with all ur battle gear on, able to do over 100 push ups in a row over 100 crunchs, and over 100 grass drills or hit-its, that's just boot camp, you should never give up, they will look for leadership and people that will push no matter the scenario. There is no true way to be prepared if you can do those things I named at the top you should be able to get passed the first week, though you will be doing everything with few hours of sleep every few days, and not much food or water, you have to be the best out of the best extreme marksmanship and ability to accuratily take down targets with in seconds of seeing them and working together and being brave is what gets you there. Into the Marines going over sea's, but there is so much more that needs to be done, give it a try it will straighten you out.

Who is better navy seal or delta?

Delta is a harder selection process but that's because it is a Tier 1 unit. The Navy seals have their own Tier 1 unit 'DEV GRU' who are as good as Delta. 'DevGru'` is the elite counter terrorism cadre of the NAVY and was responsible for the mission to kill osama bin laden.

Who goes first into a war marines or army?

If it's a shore based enemy...the Marines are sent in. If it's a 100% land battle far from the ocean...then it's the army's jurisdiction. Un-officially...the Marines have had a tougher duty by the very nature of securing hostile beach-heads. Consequently, their training (used to be) legendary for toughness. Translation: US Marines "used" to be the equivalent of "shock troops" in the US military...the toughest US fighting men alive.

Are army green beret better than navy seals?

Are you serious? Marines vs Green Beret even if you said marine recon that would still be a silly question. Now in todays military the marines have there own special forces program that is mirrored after the green berets because the marines where loosing there best men to the seals so they started there own program. but, it is new and still in the working out the kinks stage but, in a decade we can compare but, they are still to young to put it in a sf, seal, delta category.

What weapons did the marines use in WW2?

This list represents the weapons used by all the forces in World War 2.

The Marines used the Browning BAR, the M1 Garand or Carbine depending on whether they fought in the Pacific or Europe. Officers carried Colt 45 pistols (but trust me they used the rifles too in the Pacific) They used the flame throwers and the large artillery. They used automatic machine guns and this saved many Marines. They also had bayonets and the Bowie Knife.
