IMHO and as a professional in the car business, a dealership will not offer you more than 20% of the trade-in value in the event you want to trade it for another car. However, if you are trying to sell it privately you must be open and honest about the exact nature of the repairs to justify the asking price. If the replacement parts were minor but the salvage was because the age of the car was making the cost of repair more expensive than the value when fixed,it is more likely the car will bring a higher value of 40-50% of the private party value found online.

If the title was transferred properly, you can request a duplicate title at the vehicle registration office. If the title was not transferred properly, the previous owner may need to do this, then execute a proper transfer of title.

Something else you could try is going back to the auction where you purchased the vehicle and have them get you a duplicate title and pay them the lost title fee. They will have power of attorney from the person they got it from. I've had to do that a few times.

You (the person who still owes on the car) needs to get a payoff from your lienholder (company you are making payments to). The loan needs to be paid off (paid in full) before the lienholder will release the loan and title. If you are selling the vehicle for less than what you owe, you will need to come up with the difference. If you are selling it for more than what you owe, the lienholder will send the profit to you once the loan is paid in full. Your buyer(s) should make their payment out directly to your finance company for the full agreed dollar amount you are selling the vehicle for. You go to the regional office with your paperwork and VIN number the check the car out and than if everything is ok they will give you a rejection letter, you take this to an insurance company and they will sell you a surety bond for the amount of the rejection letter. Than you take it to your tax office and you can apply for the title and registration, if you are just going to sell the car just do a title only form, you can save the registration.
