Whipple surgery, also called Whipple procedure is named after the famous American surgeon Allen O. Whipple (1881 - 1963) who first described Whipple Disease. During this surgical procedure the head of the pancreas, the duodenum, a portion of the stomach, and other local tissues are excised. This is a major operation. Most surgeries cause patients to be nauseated and to throw up after surgery. There are many reasons for this. The two obvious ones are (a) the medications used during anaesthesia are poisons and the body attempts to "throw them out" by vomiting and the second (b) is the fact that the whipple surgery is a major operation involving the stomach. During this procedure the stomach becomes less active and the gut is temporarily slow. Introduction of food or fluids into the "quiet" stomach (no peristaltic activities) results in reverse peristalsis (vomitinng). During my twenty plus years as a Registered Nurse I did met very few patients who were not sick after surgery. Patients were sick after all surgeries, not just after whipple surgery. Patients are ususally more sick after surgery involving the stomach, intestines and the oesophagus. yes. vomit is no longer in the body. stomach acid is a dilution of HCl (Hydro-Chloric Acid) this is what breaks down food. if the food is outside of the body (i.e. vomit) it can spread pathogens, such as salmanilla, Typhoid, and Hepatitus to name a few. the short answer is yes. treat vomit as a dangerous body fluid.

how much is "alot" ? and a dog can sometimes vomit because he eats grass, and he will only eat grass if he has an upset stomache, becase there natural instinct tells them that grass makes them better (which it does) so if the vomit has grass in it, it could mean he just has an upset tummy, and may need a check up at the vets, or it will sort itself out, OR if it doesn't go to the vets and check it out

Yes, when our dog was a puppy, she was very excited, and did not chew her food all the way because the vomit was basically dog kibble. Now we feed her in small amounts at a time so she doesn't eat so fast and focuses on chewing her food.

Vomit happens because our stomach contracts (squeezes) itself. The opening towards the intestine is closed shut so the food comes up towards the oesophagus (the pipe from the mouth to the stomach).

The funny taste in the mouth after vomitting is because of the stomach acids which are so strong that it slightly burns our throat and oesophagus.

If we eat something undesirable, the body automatically switches ON the vomitting reaction thus cleans our body.
