How do i fit a new battery in a vw beetle?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

is the battery made to fit the bug?

if your batter is to tall and you put the back seat in and someone sits on it they could touch the springs to the terminals and create a fire under your back seat so its CRUCIAL that you have the right size battery for your beetle.

it should be a Group 42 battery.

What would cause your driver side window to go about 34 way up and then stop you have to pull it the rest of the way on my 99 beetle I have power windows?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If it isn't sitting just right in the guide rails then the friction will be stronger than the motor, which will cause the window to stop. When you're pulling you're helping the motor along so that the window continues all the way up. You can try spraying the guide rails with teflon- or silicone spray, but eventually you'll have to have the window realigned.

How do you remove a classic vw transaxle?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You first remove the engine.

Next, jack up the car and put it on stands. You've got to drain the transmission, remove the axles, front transmission mount, backup light wire, ground wire and shift linkage from the transmission.

Lower the car to the ground and put a transmission jack under it.

There are two bolts holding the back of the transmission to the car. Remove them, and the transmission will come out.
