1: at rear of car, remove the upper engine bolt behind fan at 11pm

2: remove the 3 wires from starter, from under car. Lay and reach up.

3: remove starter lower bolt, it is by it self.

it's out. dont drop it on your head.

if in fact thats happening, whats the condition of the engine seal, between the apron and the engine. also the air hose between the fan shroud and the heater boxes are important even if you dont use the heat. they keep the heater boxes from getting hotter than the sun! any other missing tin pieces combined with everything else has to be there. vw didnt put any parts on just for looks they are all critical! try to stay away from after market parts!oem german when possible . even used german parts are better than the brazil swag.

if you look under the steering shaft there should be a ten fuse, fuse box...

If you're talking about the older, air cooled beetles, The starter is reached from UNDER the car. Disconnect the battery, put the back of the vehicle on jack stands or ramps. Climb under and you should see the starter RIGHT BESIDE THE TRANSMISSION. Remove the wires, remove the 2 mounting bolts and the starter should fall out.

I had a similar leak which I discovered was coming from my sun roof, traveling inside the headliner, and running down the post between the front door and the windshield My fix was to rub a thin layer of Vaseline along the rubber seal on the sun roof and seal on the car roof. This seems to have stopped the leak, and I did this over a year ago. Tim

there is a black plastic shield at the bottom of the windshield, kind of a decorative piece around the wipers. You will find that the water is coming down the windshield and rather than going into the well and draining off it is going behind that shield and right through the firewall.

You have to take that black piece off and reposition it. Problem solved. it must be an automatic installed piece because I have found 5 PT with the same issue.

Without knowing the rest of the markings, my best guess would be late WWII.

that's easy.... you don't... there inst a radiator on a beetle. its called an air cooled engine for a reason.

Did you take the rocker arm off and the rods fell out? That's okay. They're not hooked to anything; the top of the cam follower has an indention in it to hold the end of the pushrod, and there's an indention on the rocker to hold the rod end...so when you put the rocker arm back on, the pushrod will guide itself into place.

You pull the engine and tranny together; easy peasy

Usually if im working on an engine that a cylinder is missing. I first check to see if there is spark to that plug. if thers no spark, then its either a plug wire or distributer cap problem. then check the plug, if you got the plug sparking, you may have engine trouble

The 1964 VW Beetle ignition switch only has three wires. Connect the red wire to the positive post. Connect the black wire to the negative posts. Connect the white wire to the auxiliary post.

Firing order is the standard 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 for the Buick 350 and the distributor rotates in a clockwise direction.

Loosen screw in the center of the trim ring below the headlight (6 o'clock) and take off the trim ring by firmly grasping the loose screw and pulling the trim ring off. 2. Remove the three short screws (12 o'clock, 4 o'clock, and 8 o'clock) in the sealed beam retaining ring and take the ring off. (Note: Do not alter the long screws at 9 o'clock and 12 o'clock as these set the angle of the headlight.) 3. Take the sealed beam out of the support ring and disconnect the wiring connector. 4. Repeat steps 1 - 3 in reverse order to install the new sealed beam.
