Can you take Wellbutrin Prozac and Ritalin at the time?

Consult a doctor first!

The use of Wellbutrin is associated with a dose-related risk of seizures. The estimated incidence of seizures is approximately 0.1% at dosages up to 300 mg/day and 0.4% at dosages between 300 to 450 mg/day, but increases almost tenfold between 450 mg and 600 mg/day. The risk may also be increased during coadministration with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, such as Prozac.

I'm unsure how Ritalin would mix with all this.

Your doctor needs to advise on this, it probably depends on the dosage. My doctor had me start by skipping every other day, and then increasing from there. I don't recall if we cut the pills in half during this period.

Is bupropion use to stop drinking?

Bupropion is an antidepressant and has been 'repackaged' as a smoking cessation aid by Big Pharma. One possible side-effect of Bupropion is that it reduces tolerance to alcohol, possibly resulting in an alcohol-related seizure.

So the answer is no, but knowing Big Pharma...... watch this space!

# methadone and Wellbutrin (buPROPion) (Major Drug-Drug) SERIOUS PROBLEM: The use of bupropion is associated with a dose-related risk of seizures. The estimated incidence of seizures is approximately 0.1% at dosages up to 300 mg/day and 0.4% at dosages between 300 to 450 mg/day, but increases almost tenfold between 450 mg and 600 mg/day. The risk may also be increased during coadministration with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI antidepressants or anorectics), monoamine oxidase inhibitors, neuroleptic agents, central nervous system stimulants, opioids, tricyclic antidepressants, other tricyclic compounds (e.g., cyclobenzaprine, phenothiazines), systemic steroids, and/or any substance that can reduce the seizure threshold (e.g., carbapenems, cholinergic agents, fluoroquinolones, interferons, chloroquine, mefloquine, lindane, theophylline). These agents are often individually epileptogenic and may have additive effects when combined.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION: Extreme caution is advised if bupropion is administered with any substance that can reduce the seizure threshold, particularly in the elderly and in patients with a history of seizures or other risk factors for seizures (e.g., head trauma; brain tumor; severe hepatic cirrhosis; metabolic disorders; CNS infections; excessive use of alcohol or sedatives; addiction to opiates, cocaine, or stimulants; Diabetes treated with oral hypoglycemic agents or insulin). Bupropion as well as concomitant medications should be initiated at the lower end of the dose range and titrated gradually if feasible. The total dose of bupropion should generally not exceed 450 mg/day (or 150 mg every other day in patients with severe hepatic cirrhosis). Bupropion should be discontinued and not restarted in patients who experience a seizure during treatment.

Can Wellbutrin cause sadness and uncontrollable crying?

though this wouldn't exactly be considered an 'answer'. i just wanted to say that oddly enough, i was on the internet looking for a possible reason for my uncontrollable crying fits. i find myself sobbing for hours sometimes and just as i calm down, its starts again. the thing is, it started around the time i started taking wellbutrin.

...Me too. I have found that even a very small dose of wellbutrin can cause me to sob unrelentingly. I am not sure if this is just entirely chemical. I think it is putting me more in touch with my feelings, which have been numbed out for several years. In this way, I'm not sure that these crying episodes are all bad. I am inclined to think that it is bringing to the surface grief that I have suppressed for a long time, which may be the first step to relieving my depression. However, this may be completely off base--It's just a gut feeling. Afterall, depression is often caused by past trauma...

Rigt now I've been on Wellbutrin now for 6 days. what can I do to help prevent avoid electrical brain activity while getting off of Cymbalta and starting Wellbutrin?

When to eat breakfast when taking Wellbutrin?

In my experience, I find that I need to eat breakfast BEFORE or exactly after taking my Wellbutrin. If I do not eat or wait an hour or two to eat, I will get very nausuos, very jittery, and feel "cracked out". I even thought I could fix that "bad" feeling by eating once it started happening, but it is too late at that point. and it would take about 10 hours before it would wear off. So I learned my lesson and always eat something, even if I am not hungry. The Wellbutrin has been a god-send since I have gained so much weight due to a back injury. I have absolutely NO appetite. But make sure you eat breakfast even if you aren't hungry. Everyone is different, but this is my opinion.

What is the best schedule for withdrawal of 150mg daily Wellbutrin?

It really depends on how long you have been taking it. 150mg is a rather low dosage, and if you have been taking it for a rather short period of time, tapering it off would not be necessary. However, if you have been taking it for a long period of time, it would likely be decreased gradually over a 1-2 week period.
