You might have gotten the wrong download for Minecraft. Be sure that you got the Mac version (I believe it's not Minecraft.exe but something else).

It should be the same as you would on a Windows, just go to the website, download it, and then run it as you would.

Well, when you adjust the volume, the Mac plays a feedback sound, it sounds like a pop. To turn of this feature, go to: System Preferences>Sounds>Play Feedback sounds When Volume is Adjusted>Exit System Preferences. Try Now.

The MacBook Pro is capable of running numerous applications that can display tabs. The procedure for making a new tab can vary between different applications.
