Motorcycling is inherently dangerous. To deal with motorcycle safety issues, most countries require motorcyclists to use proper gear and apparels. These include certain types of helmets, jackets, gloves, pants and boots.
The oil filter is on the right hand/front side under the oil cooler lines. Remove the three Allen bolts and the oil filter element is in there!! Behind the drain plug, at the bottom of the case.

That depends on the quality of the leather jacket. Some are simply designer jackets with very thin leather offering very little protection in the event of a slide on the pavement. Others such as racing leathers are close to a quarter of an inch thick and offer some of the best protection available.
