Between what my wife made and what I made, we had about $600.00 a month. We did not have a lot of a spending money, but we got by. Where it has hurt the most is the cost of rent. The minimum wage has gone up about three-fold, while the cost of housing has increased at least eight-fold. A $10.00 an hour job today can not support a rent that is in the range of $900.00 for an apartment with all of the additional costs.

I personally think that Germany makes the best chocolate. Try Ghirardelli chocolate.

In 2006, "Dagoba" dark-chocolate was the subject of an FDA recall for lead, but the October 2008 "Pirate's Gold" coins from China were contaminated with melamine. Both cases seem to be isolated incidents due to negligence by the manufacturers, and most brands of chocolate coins were not involved.

I've noticed that when the temperature in the house gets to be in the upper '70s, the chocolate in the snack bowl (normal snack-type chocolate, like Hershey's nuggets) gets soft and bend-y. Not hot enough to stick to the wrapping or fingers, but ver-r-r-r-y close. When the indoor temperature is in the low '70s, the chocolate is normal consistency. I always wondered why a 7-degree difference could cause that much of a change.
