Which paper towel is most absorbent?
In my BI-152 class as SEMO we conducted this experiment and Bounty came in second with Viva taking the top spot. We filled a beaker with exactly 100 ml of water and put one square of each brand (all cut to the same dimensions) in to the beaker for ten seconds. Then we pulled the towel out and measured what was left. We did this 5 times for each of the brands and overall, Viva was the most absorbent.
Though many people believe bounty is the best, it is actually not the best. I could explain but it would be the same thing as above. If you inspect a viva paper towel, you'll find that it's more like two paper towels with a lot of fuzz in between. That makes it absorbent.

Try Goo Be Gone! It does leave a grease stain but it's much better than a white out stain and I'm sure there's a way to get the greese stain out. I found a solution!
My boyfriend put my running shoes on the kitchen table (his, not mine) and I found them this morning after he had left for work. Disgusted (we live in NYC) I immediately took to lysoling the spot. To my horror, in a matter of seconds the table's finish in the spot I was rubbing was turning a cloudy white. I spent the past 20 minutes scouring blogs for a solution and all I could find were unanswered posts such as this one. Finally, I halfheartedly tried a solution to a watermarks post and... it worked!
Mayonnaise. Take a glob of mayonnaise and rub it into the effected area. I didn't think it had worked at first and returned to my computer for more searching. When I looked back at the table 3 minutes later the white cloud was gone!!
Hope this helps!

It depends on the brand. Some brands use a certain chemical because they believe it is better. Other brands use certain chemicals because it is cheaper to manufacture.
Ammonia is a common ingredient in cheap household window cleaners. Ammonia is also a fertiliser and is irritable to the eyes.
Ethanol is the active ingredient in natural window cleaners, regarded as the safest to be used around children, but should still be kept out of their reach as it is still harmful if ingested. It also costs a bit more.
Isopropyl Alcohol is the active ingredient in most household window cleaners which are priced a fair bit more than the ammonia-based ones, but usually not as much as ethanol-based. This chemical is favoured because it evaporates, leaving behind no residue on the glass.
Methanol is also another ingredient for some. Methanol is poisonous so it is not suitable to be used around children. Methanol-based window cleaner is primarily used for heavy duty cleaning, such as in vehicle windscreen washing fluid.
