Why was steerage considered the worst accommodations on ships from Europe to America?
The people in steerage were at the bottom of the ship and below water level. There were no windows, no rooms, and very little of anything else. The ships in the 1900's divided decks according to classes of people. The decks were separated with locked gates and the upper deck people who paid the most for passage never met or saw the people on the other decks. The immigrants below were locked in so they couldn't have access to the upper decks. They were considered the poorest dirtiest people on the ship so we're sold the worse accommodations.

What is the land like in Europe?
Well North Europe such as Scotland, Switzerland and other countries are quite cold, snowy and mountainous in some parts, where as centeral Europe such as England, France, Germany etc is alot more mixed, it can be sunny or rainy, foggy or clear, cold or hot! but mainly its nice during summer and snowy during winter. and in South Europe such as Italy, South France, Turkey and Greece are much more hot and dry, humid and quite nice, but there you will not find any snow onless you go into the mountainous regions, Central is much more greener and flat or sometimes hilly, but not mountainous, if you want mountains for skiing go North but if you want climbing/Hiking mountains go South. if you are looking for a nice summer get away go for Italy or Greece, Spain can be abit tempermental with the rain as i have had with past experience. England (where i am) is quite a nice place if you don't mind the rain now and again, but if you like small cottages in the Forest or camping then we are the right place! and France is obviously much more for their City's and villas :)
