Did Smith Wigglesworth really raise his wife from the dead?
Yes, Smith Wigglesworth did claim to have raised his wife from the dead - three times in fact. A highly skilled evangelical healer and pioneer of the Pentecostal movement he believed that sickness was something that originated from the devil and that people didn't naturally become ill. He was apparently not too gentle when it came to the laying on of hands and was known to thump the affected part quite hard. Besides raising his wife from the dead - three times, he also claimed to have raised 14 others and cured hundreds, possibly thousands of others. He was even able to cure his own hemorrhoids but not, unfortunately, the kidney stones that plagued him. Smith Wigglesworth died in 1947 (aged 87) while apparently attending a funeral and is buried at Nab Wood Cemetery with his wife and daughter.
