Is immigration positive?

It depends on what you mean by positive, immigration is a dangerous, risky journeys that tend to have harsh effects so it's not really a "happy" thing.

Now if you mean positive as in good for our country, then it is. Sometimes though an immigrant will commit crimes while he/she is here, then it negative. Sadly our very broken country sees it as a negative thing overall.

Why is immigration such a sensitive topic?

Immigration to the United States is not, in itself a controversial issue. The real issue is illegal immigration, people entering the country illegally without going through the proper channels and the government appearing to do nothing about it.

Many people feel like those who come into the country illegally have already broken the law, so they should be deported back to their own country. On the other hand, the government seems to believe that illegal immigrants should be allowed to become citizens. People do not take to that very well, not because they are against a given race, but because of the illegal nature of the immigration.

People are also concerned because there are millions of citizens already out of work, many living outside in make shift shelters. People feel like allowing illegal immigrants to stay in the country puts an already strained economy under more stress, and that the citizens should be the first consideration of the government, especially when they hear (whether it is true or not) that illegal immigrants are given subsidies that the citizens desperately need.

Again, the main issue of controversy is that the government is allowing immigrants to cross the borders illegally, and then to remain in the country, even to the point of considering giving them citizenship status, especially at a time when so many of the citizens of the country are having very hard times.

What is the naturalization process?

Naturalization is the legal process through which a foreign citizen or national can become a U.S. citizen. In order to be naturalized, an applicant must first be qualified to apply for citizenship. Then, he or she must complete an application, attend an interview, and pass an English and a civics test. Upon successful completion of these steps, the applicant takes an oath of loyalty, and becomes a citizen. These legal requirements help the immigration service ensure that only those people who are sincere in their desire to become Americans become naturalized.

Become legal and start paying taxes to start

You prrety much can't ! Seach enroling terms over the internet send and email describing your situation but witouth the illegal part and wait for an answer.

EDIT:

Technically you cant, you would need to have a birth certificate, i think a social security number (not sure though). and a greencard. As we speak there is a bill called the Dream Act that will allow undocumented inmigrants who entered as children before they where 16 to join the military and get help paying for college, but its not a law yet.

If you have a parent like your mom or dad or a sister who is a resident or citizen ask if they can help you fix your status by sponsoring you. (get help from a lawyer though) its a lengthly procces but its the sure way.
