Is the God of Islam the same God of Abraham?

No, they were not the same person. They were both extremely significant people in Islam- both prophets. Abraham, sometimes referred to as the 'Father of the Prophets', was living a long time before Muhammad's time. He helped to build the magnificent Ka'bah, which is now a significant part of Hajj, the pilgrimage. He was mentioned in the Qu'ran more times than any other prophet.

Muhammad, the last Prophet, is the Prophet that Muslims of our time follow in the footsteps of. All the Prophets were assigned a different group of people, by Allah, to preach Islam to. Muhammad's people were all of Mankind. He wrote the astonishing Qur'an.

hazrat Abraham AA is fore father of Hazrat Muhammad SAW .

What divides Sunni and Shea Muslims?

two main differences are here. in principles both shiite and Sunni has common ideas such as tawhid or the oneness and nabuwwah or prophecy and ressurrection or Maad , but shiite despite these beiefs ,hs two other namely immamat or belief in the imams as successors of the prophet AND Adl or Divine justice.in the three basic first principles -unity,prophecy and resurrection .

the two problem of succession and Authority in religious Sciences:there are two problems of succession and authority between shia and sunni . in accordance with the islamic teaching which form its basis , shiism believed that the most important question facing islamic society was the elucidation and clarification of islamic teaching and the tenets of the religious sciences . only after such clarifications were made could be application of these teachings to the social order be considered . in other words , shiism believed that , before all else , members of siciety should be able to gain a true vision of the world and of men based of the real nature of things . only then could they know and perform their duties as human beings-in which lay their real welfare-even if the performance of these religious duties were to be against their desires . after carrying out this first step , a religious government should preserve and excute real islamic order in society in such a way that man would worship none other than God , would possess personal and social freedom to the extent possible and would benefit srom true personal and social justice .

these two ends could be accomplished only by a person who was inerrant and protected by god from having faults . otherwise people could become rulers or religious authorities who would not be free from the possibility of distoration of thought or the commoting of treachery in the duties placed upon their shoulders. were this to happen , the just and freedom-giving rule of islam could gradually be converted to dictatorial rule and completely autocratic government.

moreover , the pure religious teachings could become, as can be seen in the case of certan other religious , the victims of change and distoration in the hands of selfish scholrs given to satisfication of their carnal desires . as confirmed by holy prophet , Ali followed perfectely and completely the book of god and the tradition of the prophet in both words and deeds. As shiism sees it, if, as the majority say , only the Quraysh opposed the rightful caliphate of Ali, then that majority should have answered the Quraysh by asserting what was right. they should have quelled all opposition to the right cause in the same way that they fought against the group who refused to pay religious tax . the majority should not have remained indifferent to what was right for few of the opposition of Qurayesh .

what prevented te shiaah from accepting the elective method of choosing the caliphate by the people was the the fear of the unwholsome consequences that might result from it: fear of possible corruption in islamic government and of the destruction of the solid basis for the sublime religious sciences. As it happened, later event in islamic history confirmed this fear or predication , with the result that the shiites became even firmer in their belief . during the earliest years , however, because of the small number of the followers , shiism appeared outwardly to have been absorbed into the majority , although privately it continued to insist on acquiring the islamic sciences from the household of the prophet and invite people to its cause. At the same time , in order to preserve the power of islam nd sfeguard its progress, shiism did not display any opposition the men of islamic society.members of the shiite community even fought hand in hand with the sunni majority in holy wars and participated in public of affairs . Ali himself guided the sunnu majority in the interest of the whole islam , whenever such actions was neccessary.

What is the holiest place on Earth for Muslims?

There are three main holy places in Islam.

1. Makkah, Saudi Arabia

2. Madinah, Saudi Arabia

3. Al'Quds (Jerusalem), Palestine

All three are holy, though Makkah maybe considered the holiest due to it being the first place where a house of God was built on earth, as mentioned in the Qur'an. Also the Prophet, peace be upon him, said prayer in Makkah (not only the Masjid) is worth 100 000 times more than praying elsewhere. Whereas, Madinah the prayer is 1000 more in the Prophet's Masjid; and the Masjid in Al'Quds, aka Masjid Al'Aqsa, is only 500.

What is a prayer room used for in a mosque?

The correct answer, from a Muslim, is that we pray separately for reasons of modesty and it is totally possible to get attracted as GOD has created attraction Between Men and Women). In the time of the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) women would pray in rows behind the rows of men. If they prayed in front of the men or mingled with the men then when we prostrate men would get a direct view of womens bottoms, this is not a way to be modest and would make it difficult for everyone to concentrate on their prayers.

These days we either pray behind the men, in rows adjacent to men, with a curtain dividing men and women or in a separate prayer room for women.

Why were the Muslims successful conquerers?

Answer 1

The Muslim armies were successful in conquering new lands for a number of reasons. Their enemies the Persians and the Byzantines were weak because they had already been fighting a long war with each other, and Some of the Muslim fighters were nomads this helped them win battles because they were used to fighting battles in the desert and travelling a long way from home.

Answer 2

The main reasons in my view are:

  • They were not fighting for personal ambitions for power or money but fighting for sake of God to free the will of people and let them choose their beliefs freely
  • They were spreading justice, equal human rights, and peace among people

Answer 3

The early Caliphates (or Islamic Empires) expanded due to a number of factors. It is notable that although there are a few occurrences of Muslims carrying out the "Convert or Die" scenario, this is not the most common reason for Islam's expansion exclusively in terms of territory.

1) Arabia - What's that?: Prior to Mohammed, Arabia had been seen as a cultural and political backwater barely worth notice and therefore Mohammed's consolidation of the Arab Tribes was not seriously considered by the Byzantine and Sassanian Empires. This lead to a very porous southern defense and miscalculation of the Islamic Armies.

2) Byzantine-Sassanian Wars: Since the Byzantines and Sassanians considered each other the only real civilizations in the region, they fought each other numerous times in the early 600s C.E. over control of what is today East Turkey and Iraq. These were intense religious wars (Christian vs. Zoroastrian) and greatly weakened both empires at just the wrong time.

3) Tribal Command Structure: Arab Tribes and warriors owed their loyalty to their Sheikhs and leaders without fault because the Sheikh provided each person with all of the amenities and protection necessary to live a full life. Whenever the Arabs went to war, the Sheikhs could count on the ability to muster their tribesmen as soldiers without issue.

4) Support of the Locals: Since the Byzantine Empire and Sassanian Empire were engaged in religious zealotry, it stands to reason that they did not tolerate their religious minorities very well. The Muslims professed to (and did) treat minorities far better than either of these Empires. This led to religious minorities (especially Jews) from within the conquered territories helping Muslims to secure outposts and positions, freeing the Muslims to continue to spread the religion.

5) Citizenship by Conversion: The Islamic Empire was interesting in that being the leader or a person of import in the Empire was not contingent on ethnicity or place of birth as was the case of most prior empires. All a person had to do to gain power and prestige was to convert to Islam. This simple integration mechanism resulted in massive number of Persians, Berbers, and Turks converting to Islam. In fact, the furthest expansions of Islam (Spain, India, West China, South Russia, the Balkans) were all accomplished by non-Arabs (respectively Berbers, Persians/Mughals, Turkmen, Azeris, and Ottomans).

6) Warfare: The leaders charged with expanding the influence of Islam were thoughtful and diligent military leaders. Caliph 'Omar, who conquered much of the Levant, Egypt, Persia, and Iraq was well-known as a strategist and a fighter. It was this knowledge of warfare that allowed Muslim forces to expand the territory's influence.

7) Universality: Islam, as a religion, claims salvation for all people in all places, making the religion very attractive, especially to people born into low castes and bad economic positions.

When did the Nation of Islam start?

The Nation of Islam is not mainstream Islam nor are the beliefs the same, The Nation of Islam was originated in the USA in the early 20th Century. Although the name suggests that it is connected to Islam, it has no connection at all to Islam and shouldn't be looked at as a sect of Islam.

The Nation of Islam is a religious group founded in Detroit, Michigan, United States by Wallace Fard Muhammad in July 1930 with the self-proclaimed goal of resurrecting the spiritual, mental, social, and economic condition of the black men and women of America.

It was a racist movement and thus most of its followers left NOI and entered into mainstream Islam. For example Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali.

For more information read the autobiography of Malcolm X.

Why was Muhammad viewed by Muslims as the perfect man?

That is because of his high moral and behavioral perfection, and because he was referred in the Quran as the best human example, knowing that he was the last of the prophets of God and his message was for the whole of humanity. God says in the Quran: You have indeed in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example for him who hopes in Allah and the Last Day, and who remembers Allah much (33:21). In this verse Allah instructs Muslims to follow Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) who was an embodiment of the great values and manners of the Holy Quran. He gave the best example for mankind in the human history. Many Muslim and non-Muslim writers bear witness that Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is the greatest man in the human history.

The early Muslim rulers in India were fiercely intolerant of a faith that they saw as idolatory, destroying temples and forcing believers to convert.

During the time of Akbar, this was changing. He was respectful of all faiths, became a vegetarian so as not to offend the Hindus and built Hindu temples. In 1575, he built a 'house of worship' where scholars of all religions could meet for discussion.

Where did Muhammad first hear from an angel of god?

The first revelation took place in 610 CE when Muhammad was in the cave called Hira on the mountain Jabal an-Nour, close to Mecca, where the arcangel Gabriel (Jibril) appeared before him and demanded him to "Read!".

You can read a hadith about the first revelation in Sahih Bukhari 4, Sahih Muslim 160.

Which religion do Muslims hate the most?

Hatred is against Islam religion. Quran says (meaning English translation):

"Allah (or God and same God in Judaism and Christianity) does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly. Allah only forbids you from those who fight you because of religion and expel you from your homes and aid in your expulsion - [forbids] that you make allies of them. And whoever makes allies of them, then it is those who are the wrongdoers." (60:8-9)

However, Muslims may hate politically the Israelis (not as Jewish religion followers) due to that they are not serious to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict with just and fairness. Muslims may hate politically the Westerners (not as mostly are Christians) because of their plots and wars against Islamic countries to control their resources.

Why do Muslims practice female genital mutilation?

Female genital mutilation is a practice that predates the Muslim religion as well as Christianity so it is not a religious practice . in Muslim territory scholars have claimed the Mohammad approved of the practice. Female genital mutilation was carried out mainly in north Africa where it is believed to have originated from where it spread to the middle east. the original reasoning behind it was to guarantee the virginity of the female concerned by first of all making sex an unpleasant experience and secondly making sex impossible by literally sowing the opening to the vagina shut leaving just enough room for menstruation and urination. genital mutilations were regularly done to christian women in christian European communities until the late 1800s.

Today these practices live on as they have become the cultural norm and in many community where women have not been genitally mutilated they are not fit to be married and become members of their community.
