Your keyboard has two shift keys on it, one on the left and one on the right. If both of them are not working then it is unlikely that the keyboard itself is faulty. Instead it is possible that either the keyboard cable or the keyboard port on the computer is damaged (but this is unlikely if all other keys are working).

11/22/10 Hi, I'm PunksterBrew just wanting to add to my experience with similar problems. Both of my shift keys were not working, but all my other buttons did. I noticed when I took out my keyboard from my laptop, shifting worked again at a certain angle as I lifted it upwards. My keyboard ribbon folds, and I suspected that was the problem. Apparently, if it folds too much, the connection is weak. All I did was duct tape a wedge of folded paper at the fold. Problem is fixed now, although it may be temporary.

How do you make a keyboard shortcut?
You can make a keyboard shortcut for starting a program by right clicking the shortcut to a program (such as the Start Menu ones) and clicking properties. In the "Shortcut Key" text box, type the letter or number you want to make into a shortcut. After you apply the settings all you have to do to start the program is to press the letter while holding down the Ctrl and Alt keys. If you make the shortcut key one that is on the number pad, you will just have to press that key to start the program. You won't have to hold down any other key. Okay so i got an axiom 61 MIDI controller and i want to record and my laptop just cant handle it. MY first question is should i build a computer to record or can i buy a reasonable computer for under 1000 dollars. I also would like to know any recommendations about michrophones to record with and software to record with, currently im using a fruity loops demo but idk if this is the way to go or not. What are the preparatory steps before typing?
Here are some of the key things to keep in mind with respect to typing posture and hand position:
- keep the backs of your hands parallel to the keyboard.
- have your arms oriented so that you are able to keep your index, middle and ring fingers on their home keys (see Lesson 1), and have both pinky fingers reach the shift keys without bending your wrist sideways.
- sit up as straight as possible (within reason!).
- have the top of the monitor at eye level.
- hands should be slightly lower than elbows (keeps the blood flowing to the hands!).
- keep your wrists straight, so that the tendons in your wrist are unencumbered through the carpal tunnel.
- take frequent breaks! get up and walk around, or sit under a tree or something.
