No, Percocet does not have opium in it. Opium is the dried latex of the opium poppy. It is a complex mixture of chemicals, containing narcotics such as morphine and codeine. Percocet contains acetaminophen and oxycodone. Oxycodone is a semi-synthetic opioid, it does not occur naturally in opium (though it can be synthesized from chemicals in opium).

First of all, you need a pain management doctor, a legitimate back problem or some type of chronic pain that never goes away, and proof via x-rays or other tests in order to be prescribed Oxycontin. The only opiate you will be prescribed without proof is, if you're lucky, Vicodin... maybe even Percocet. if you're REALLY lucky.

It will takes MONTHS to be able to get prescribed Oxycontin. And even then, it's not guaranteed. Doctors are scared about the DEA swooping in and lifting on their license because of the certain doctors who prescribed OC loosely and got locked up, or trust me, doctors would be a little more lenient to prescribe them. It's a shame, because for those of us in serious pain, Oxycontin is probably one of the best medications out there for a lot of people.

I have not had my blood pressure check while taking my oxycodone, but it noticeably increases my heart rate. My average heart rate is between 80-90, but sometimes after I take oxy I check itbecause it feels like it's racing. During those times my heart rate is usually 100-110. I don't have any heart problems or high blood pressure so it has to he the oxy. And I'd guess if you're heart is racing, blood pressure is probably high too!

Both will show up as a positive for opiates, however there are tests that specifically test for oxycodone (same as roxy's). You'll have to look at the test panal and see what catagories are tested for specifically.

The absolute best way is to drink as much water as you possibly can for a day or two. This will eliminate the drug from your body 2-3x faster.

Drug users frequently take stimulants and opiates at the same time. They have a synergistic effect. You may have heard the term "speedball" before. A speedball is a combination of cocaine and heroin that is usually injected but can be smoked or insufflated. When you combine coke and heroin you feel the clean energy of cocaine and the warm euphoria of heroin - many think that this is the ultimate high. Other stimulants besides cocaine, such as adderall, can be used of course, but the mix of smack and blow are the gold standard. Personally I stay far away from speedballing, because it is incredibly addicting and incredibly easy to overdose. John Belushi and River Phoenix both died from speedballing. With that said, if you're looking to potentiate opiates you can take a small dose (I take 10-15 mg) of amphetamine orally about half an hour before taking opiates. I have found this to be safe for me, but everyone's body chemistry is different - know yourself before you start mixing.

Oxycodone metabolizes into oxymorphone. Of all the synthetic opioids, oxycodone is the most difficult to detect, especially at small doses regardless of the advertising propaganda of the labs.

No they can not, that is if it is a regular five panel test. If you are getting a high grade medical toxicological screen test than they can detect how much, but it is highly unlikely for you to be tested like this.

Water will help flush any narcotic pain med out of your system. When my hubby knows he has a drug test coming, he will drink about two 2-liter bottles of water as fast as possible, and of course urinate a lot, and eat a lot of vitamin C. The test gets passed.

i took trazodone and Oxycontin concurrently for several years with no major side effects. this does not mean that it is "ok," but my doctors did not voice any concerns or warn me about reporting any possible reactions.

remember, though, that everyone's body chemistry is different, and what works well for one person can put another person into a coma, thus this question is best asked of the pharmacist or MD(s) who prescribed the two medications. pharmacists tend to be more patient and forthcoming, but it is important for the doctor(s) to take responsibility for their decision(s) regarding your care.

if the prescriptions are from two different doctors, be sure all of your medical professionals know what is being prescribed for you. DO NOT leave it up to the pharmacist to catch any counter-productive interactions. while it is their job to do so, it is really the responsibility of your MDs and other prescribers to know your FULL prescription history and which drugs you are currently taking. otherwise they are not able to do their best work. despite the "rewards" bestowed upon some folks in medical malpractice suits, it is the patient, not their hired medical practioners, who is ultimately responsible for communicating with each member of their medical team, and ensuring that all parties are aware of all practices performed by each team member.

in my humble lay opinion, it is often the patient who causes many of the poor decisions medical professionals make in their care, so be careful and ask each member of your team this question and all others like it. you may just find that this combination is fine, but reduces or increases the effectiveness of another drug you are taking; an over the counter drug you may take; or even interacts with certain types of food you may eat or drink.

best advice: NEVER take anything for granted, no matter how often doctors roll their eyes at you! :-) better ridiculed than rushed to the ED! never be afraid to call back to the office and ask later, either.

I don't take Phentermine every day though - I originally used as a weight control drug, but as I started having to use opiates to control my pain, I found that Phentermine's stimulant effect (it's essentially Speed anyway) counteracts the depressant effects of the opiates I use.

However, having said that, I've also been in formal pain management for over 10 years, so I have a pain doctor who regularly sees me. Phentermine can cause problems over time, so make sure that your MD is up on what you're taking.

Contact your local mental health association for help, or check with a detox facility directly and see if they'll accept your insurance. If no professional help is available, call Narcotic Anonymous in your city and ask for help. Be honest. It's too late to lie about it.

These are to differenet medications and cannot really be equalled out in milligrams. 2 milligrams of dilaudid is eaual to 16 milligrams of Moorphine, 5 milligrams of dilaudid is equal to the strength of 40 milligrams of Morphine. VERY stong medication, and much stronger then percocet.

Anywhere from 2.5mg , 5mg, 7.5mg and 10mg. Of course the nature of percocet means it also contains acetaminophen (Tylenol) along with the oxycodone...thus the medication called percocet (Just an oxycodone and Tylenol combination) The only thing that varies is the amount of Tylenol in each pill.

From experience if you take the same amount of oxycodone(ex. percocet roxicodone) and demerol, Demerol is stronger.

Hydrocodone is not administered in the dosage of 1000 mg.
