What is the most dangerous type of waste?

Though e-wastes and bio medical wastes are the dangerous wastes, the most dangerous type of waste, to the best of my knowledge, is radioactive wastes due its long standing ill effects. -answer by rajasekaransk

What are facts about water pollution?

Water is a natural resource and continual pollution of the earth's water supply can be a threat to human life. About 70% of industrial waste is dumped into bodies of water, the largest amount of water is in the ocean, and 14 billion pounds of trash are dumped in the ocean every year.

How do you clean up polluted soil?

create harmless chemicals!!

Answer:

There are several ways:

  • For oils you remove as much free oil as you can then biodegrade (use microbes) the remainder.
  • For volatile material allow air to flow through the soik to strip out the organics
  • For heavy metals wash them out with water and collect the water for further treatment
  • Heavy metals can be sequestered with chelating agents or bioaccumulated by plants
  • acids and alkalis can be neutralized
  • Salts can be sequestered or washed out

Can makeup harm people?

harsh chemicals used can be harmful - found in processed foods, cosmetics, hair care, creams, shampoos, cleaners, toothpastes It can cause clogged pours, and create pimples. Most makeup is pretty okay for you though. If you want to avoid clogging your pours go for a mineral or non-comedogenic foundation and powder.

What are the advantages of gasoline?

Gasoline is (or at least was) an abundant source of energy. Combustion of gasoline is an exothermic reaction that releases a significant amount of energy that can be harnessed. It's also cheap compared to other fuel sources, and has one of the highest energy return on investment (EROI - how much energy do you get based on how much you invest) ratings.

If a person throw garbage on the street how long does it pollute the land?

That would mainly depend on how much garbage you threw out. For example if you were to throw a candy wrapper on the ground, it wouldn't be the cause for Global Warming, but if you threw a truckload of them on the ground, then it would be much more harmful. I highly doubt that if any single person were to throw a piece of trash on the ground it would cause a lot of pollution, but keep in mind that other people are doing that too and when lots of people do it, then it becomes a problem.

What are two most dangerous indoor pollutants?

i suppose they are not quite pollution, rather it is mold and the ones to be mast cautious of are black mold and dark blue they tend to grow in moist dark places such as the basement around piping and above the shower <3 Catt

Why would a car get worse gas mileage after the catalytic converter was replaced?

why does a larger diameter exhaust increase power? lower bac-pressure. A reduction in flow resistance to exhaust gasses leaving the engine is a net increase in flow potential, hence more power. It requires less fuel to do the same work. Now consider putting something in the exhaust system that increases flow resistance substantially, like a ceramic honeycomb element in a catalytic that was not there before. Lost flow potential, increased fuel consumption to produce same engine RPM's. Also, was the o@ sensor checked? is the emissions system completely functional? Do you know for a fact it is? Are you absolutely sure? Because if they engine is running cooler than design temps, richer than optimal fuel mixture, or without Exhaust Gas Recirculation, it will produce excessive soot in the exhaust. Black smoke at muffler? This soot will rapidly clog the hoeycomb channels, and further restrict the exhaust. The soot bakes into clay at exhaust temps, clogging it up until you are back where you started, punching out the ceramic internals to recover flow potential so the car will run. Emissions system components are covered under federally mandated warranties in compliance with the clean air act of 1985. Some of which may be active for your vehicle. Looking into that may find you getting these things fixed by the dealership at their cost. That worth a look?

Are non-biodegradable substances good for environment?

Non-Biodegrable means substances wont break down for a long, long time or forever

no it's not because materials, such as(some)plastics, cans, etc cannot be recyled therefore bigger landfill sites are needed.

if it is a biodegradable pesticide,it still wouldn't be good because when the pesticide is sprayed into the plants they, then some of pesticide might then reach rivers to oceans which might kill a member of the food chain, which might damage the balance of ecosystem

What is toxic waste water made of?

the plasticcs thrown in water have toxic gases and if you people throw plastic in water, these harmful plastics will give out toxic gases which causes harm not only to us but the marine life also..........

How do you raise a sunken boat?

A boat sinks when the hull no longer displaces the volume of water that equals the weight of the boat. Every sunken boat has its' own set of problems. There is not one way to that fits all. I raised one boat by removing the ballast weight, then pumping out the water when the gunnels all raised above the surface of the water. Another was towed to the waters edge at high tide then pumped out the water at low tide, (only about a three foot difference.) You might need to patch holes or turn off valves before you start. One way is to carefully provide flotation in the form of air bags spaced to lift the boat in an upright manner with straps. Bags placed in a compartment can brake through the deck. Straps on the hull if not wide enough can rupture the hull. Pumping water out of compartments in the wrong order can roll the vessel. Remember, The worst thing that can happen while trying to salvage a boat can be terrible.

What is the dumping domestic industrial waste in land and water?

Waste can be managed by sorted out and recycle or combusted to produce energy and the last mode is dispose to the designated area.

Dump site, mostly on land, is the keeps of domestic and industrial waste, the waste would be piled to a certain height in the confined area then covered with earth when the piling is finished. The land will not be able to use again and that make problem to the country with limited land area.

Sea or marine dump site is for the keeps of industrial waste. It is allowed for deposit of sludge waste, geological material waste, nuclear waste depending on the country's marine ecology policy. The dumping area should be a close spot and the waste would not dispersed by under water current preventing contamination and deterioration of marine ecology.

How does the conservation of resources also reduce pollution and other damage to the earth?

if we cut down on the use of machines and cars and stuff like that, all of that stuff pollutes the air and when we cut down on using it we don't pollute the air as much.

What good does recycling scrap metal do for people?

Recycling scrap metal has immense benefits, from being environmentally friendly to having economic advantages. Recycling conserves the earth's natural resources which are limited in supply. Digging for ores and procuring new metal from it requires the use of fossil fuels, which in turn releases greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Thus recycling reduces air pollution and preserves fossil fuels which are in finite supply. It also saves massive amount of energy - producing metal from virgin ore requires several times more energy than recycling used metal. Everyone can and should recycle scrap metal - selling scrap metal can fetch a good sum of money as well as protect the environment. I usually drive down to the SIMS center for scrap metal recycling in Bronx once every few months - once I've amassed a fair amount of scrap that I can sell off.

How has technology affected car pollution?

It has radically reduced the emmissions given off from automobiles. Too bad the big vehicles aren't as closely scrutinized yet.

It is absolutly amazing. From a seminar recently, I understand that leaving the fuel cap off will release more hydrocarbons than from the exhaust out the tail pipe.

With the addition of flex fuel, electric, propane, hydrogen, bio-diesel, and Hybrid cars the outlook is better.

I have found that since the advent of OBDII the number of problems that can occur is astronomicle. I have a pre-OBDII and an OBDII vehicles, and by comparison (Both being Fords) the OBDII has suffered more problems (From very low MPG to extremely bad performance issues not able to be corrected by Ford engineers themselves). At any given time the dealerships claim it is in the computer program to which they can not change(Poor MAF sensor performance,Timing issues)they just don't seem very knowledgeable about what they are doing or care about the matter (You already bought it tough luck is the usual answer). But their resolve to the delema was to go online and purchase a chip for socket J2 on the computer,I asked if the vehicle does not get 21M.P.G. like the manufacturer states than to me there must be a problem. After the techs laughed they stated that there is no possible way for that vehicle with that program to attain that fuel economy. It was stated that 18 M.P.G was the best I'd ever see. Not accepting this from Ford I set out on a little adventure, and discovered their big flaw. It was the catalytic converters, and by having four of them would be a strain on any engine. So we decided to test our theory, and removed the larger segments of converters (2 of them). Created a filler pipe to cover the distance, and re-inserted the O2 sensor as to not throw a code. Discovery was the fuel economy went from 18 M.P.G. to 26 M.P.G. This was a very large jump in fuel economy. To test this out I had to do it several times on over the road tests, and the results came out to within a few tenths of a M.P.G. of each other. So, in removing the technology and applying some old fashioned know how we were able to make the vehicle perform better and be more economical than the manufacturer could. (And by the way Ford blames the E.P.A. for their bad designs). JIM

What is E - Garbage?

e-garbage is where our old laptops computers cellphones and t.vs are recycled into new ones to help the environment but what many people dont know that they are usually sent over to china where people burn them for 8 dollars a day and get many diseases from doing this because of the harmful chemicals in the computers and things
