The answer to that changes depending on which decade you ask the question. The most accepted answer is either the red giant that was their star blows up (film) or the core of Krypton became unstable and highly radioactive which is also where kryptonite comes from.

Krypton is not considered harmful to humans in normal conditions, as it is present in trace amounts in the air we breathe. However, if krypton were to displace oxygen in an enclosed space, it could potentially pose a suffocation risk.

Beer (using the broad definition of any fermented grain here) is something that happened many different times in many different places. It's likely that any society that settled down and began farming accidentally discovered beer at some point (in fact there are those who think the discovery of beer encouraged farming, not the other way around).

All you need to make accidental beer is some grain in an open container, and some rain. The rain fills the container and draws some sugar from the grain into solution. Naturally occurring yeast and bacteria float into the mixture and set up shop; fermentation occurs and you have very primitive beer. If some brave soul tries this stuff and enjoys the effects, well, there you go.

He applied himself at school and had a choice of good colleges to choose from. He did well enough in college, but did not give up partying until after graduating from Columbia. His roommate at that time reported that he wasn't any fun anymore because he had started getting up early and jogging. Do yourself a favor and read his book. He's a really good writer. The book was written long before he thought of running for president.

This question cannot really be answered, since it compares two fallible humans with a comic book character. While Grant was surely a better person than Hitler, neither man demonstrated infallibility-- Hitler was a brutal dictator who was responsible for the deaths of millions of innocent people; many reports say Grant had problems with alcohol, and while a general, he also demonstrated that he was anti-Semitic. Thus, the two humans certainly made mistakes. But even Superman, a heroic character and a "good guy," was not perfect: he had his moments of weakness and failure when he was subjected to kryptonite. So, I think this question asks us to make an unfair comparison.

Superman is one of the few comic characters who has been able to defeat Doomsday, thanks to his strength and resilience. Other characters like Darkseid, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern have also been shown to have the power to defeat Doomsday in certain storylines.
