How did art start?

It pretty much started when cavemen painted on walls. But if you are talking about contemporary art, it started around the Renaissance when artists broke away from their low societal positions in only painting church-commissioned bible scenes and began to express their individual emotions rather than just illustrating the bible. Who made the warka vase?

The vase has three registers - or tiers - of carving. The bottom register depicts the vegetation in the Tigris and Euphrates delta, such as the natural reeds and cultivated grain. Above this vegetation is a procession of animals, such as oxen and sheep presented in a strict profile view. The procession continues in the second register with nude males carrying bowls and jars of sacrificial elements, such as fruit and grain. The top register is a full scene, rather than a continuous pattern. In this register, the procession ends at the temple area. Inanna, one of the chief goddesses of Mesopotamia and later known as Ishtar in the Akkadian pantheon, stands, signified by two bundles of reeds behind her. She is being offered a bowl of fruit and grain by a nude figure. A figure in ceremonial clothing - presumably a chieftain/priest - stands nearby with the procession approaching him from behind.[1]

What ancient Greek sculptor was famous for his athletes in bronze?

Myron

Myron (fl.c.480-440 B.C.), Greek sculptor, an older contemporary of the sculptors Phidias, and Polyclitus, considered by the ancients as one of the most versatile and innovative of all Attic sculptors.

Born in Eleutherae, he lived most of his life in Athens and is repeatedly called an Athenian by the 2nd-century-A.D. traveler Pausanias. The 1st-century writer Pliny cites Myron as the first to achieve lifelike representation in Art.

Working almost exclusively in bronze, he is best known for his many studies of athletes in action. Of his many works, only two representations survive: the group of Athena and Marsyas, originally standing on the Acropolis of Athens, and the "Discobolos" (Discus Thrower), both are marble copies made in Roman times.

Has any body seen orange orb in the sky?

hello my name is Sam and i am 15 years old. i witnessed this sighting with my parents and i think there is a link because in the UK on the 13/02/2010. we saw a similar sighting in the sky... about 11pm whilst i was in my living room, something caught my eye through the window, which appeared to be a flying orange sphere (looked as if it was on fire) darting across the night sky.. i went outside with my camera to video it. but was to late as it had travelled a very large distance in just about 3 minutes. we watch the orb till we could not see it anymore as it had disappeared. we went back into the house to watch TV shocked that we had seen such a weird sight.

we were thinking of the possibilities for example planes, meteors, rockets. we had not a clue. we panic for a while. then we had the thought that it could be the Chinese festival ( CHINESE LANTERNS ).

About 10 minutes later whilst in the lounge a second orb came along. travelling in the same direction as the first, like it was following it in some sort of formation.

it appeared to stop at one stage. At this point i was quite worried if they were meteors etc... i do not believe that there are such things as UFOs. however i do believe it was a mystery, because we have no evidence that it was man-made or was just a natural phenomena.

it was way up in the sky like a dot but could work that it was a sphere and looked on fire.

they also could not have been Chinese lanterns because they do not travel at such a great speed as this did.

it could not have been a jet of some sort because it was silent unless it was stealth.the word UFO stands for unidentified flying object which in retrospect the orb was

it is unidentified it was flying

and it was an strange object.

thanks for reading my eyewitness account please please reply because i want more information about this.

PS.... please reply because we are rather shocked...

Should the Elgin marbles should stay in London or go back to Greece?

This is an opinion question and, as a result, you may have different answers.

I believe that since the British properly paid the Ottoman government for the Elgin Marbles, transported them, and has protected them for roughly 200 years, the British should retain the right to exhibit the marbles. While I am sympathetic to the Greek argument that these treasures should be restored to their home, this is insufficient to match the incredible cost borne by the British in acquiring and preserving the artifacts, never mind the fact that Britain remains more stable for long term preservation of the artifacts and that there is no impediment to Greeks visiting the collections in Britain. (Compare this to the Iraqi Jewish Archive where the exhibition is slated to go to Iraq, where most Iraqi Jews - who are currently Israeli citizens - cannot go.)
