What gods do the vikings worship?

The Norse didnt really practice it like religions or pagans do now. They worshipped through combat and seeking the glorious death. The creation myths and stories were passes down verbally throughout their history before the written word. Odinism may be one of the worlds oldest beliefs but the worship of ancestors predates even that. And by worship I really only mean that they asked them to watch over them and asked for guidance. That's basically all there is too it. Snorri's prose Edda is a generally accurate description of the the stories. There really weren't any rituals and other things of that nature. But modernization of the religion did spur a type of prayer. More of a battle chant to be sure.

Lo, There do I see my Father

Lo, There do I see my Mother and

My Brothers and my Sisters

Lo, There do I see the line of my people back to the beginning

Lo, They do call to me

They bid me take my place among them in the halls of Valhalla

Where thine enemies have been vanquished

Where the brave shall live Forever

Nor shall we mourn but rejoice for those that have died the glorious death.

Don't go into it looking for the real thing and get into the modern movement. It's really a thick christianization of the glorious history.

Edit: I know what I'm talking about, I'm post grad history student focusing in religion and warfare.

What was the religion of the Mesopotamians?

The early people of Mesopotamia were polytheistic (had many gods).

Both the Sumerians and Akkadians believed in hundreds of gods and demons that controlled various aspects of the natural world.

There were no real established religions when Mesopotamia was founded. The Sumerians had various gods for each city-state, and large temples called ziggurats. There were also smaller temples for offerings by the people. Some of the Sumerian gods were Anu (heaven), Ki (earth), Enki (wisdom), Enlil (lord of air), Inanna (goddess of love and war), Utu (a sun god), and Nanna (a moon god). The Akkadians (c. 2400 BC) had many similar gods under different names.

What was the job of priest in ancient Greece?

Like priests in Chistianity, they acted as living links between Earth and the spiritual world. They accepted prayers, offerings, and sacrifices on behalf of their respective gods, kept the temples clean and sacred, and many were also considered oracles. They offered advice generally, but oracles were believed to see the future, and they're importance is illustrated all throughout mythology. U could ask the oracle anything abt the future and they would answer, but never a straight answer, usually in riddles and vague generalizations.

Oedipus' fate was foretold by an oracle, and the moral of that story was not to attempt to dodge fate by cheating and in vain.

The oracle at Delphi was the most popular, but it turns out there r plants and gases in that location that would have been intoxicating to the oracles of Delphi. Ancient greeks probably thought the oracles were chosen by Apollo and that explained the mindless psychobabbling of the ranting oracles, but in reality we'll never know if that's true, or if Ancient Greek prophesies and religion orbitted around a stoned priest or one desenting into madness from overexposure to the elements

Why did the Ancient Egyptians Embalm?

Where did the Mesopotamians worship their gods?

The Mesopotamians were the first civilization, so therefore, they "came up" with the first religion. The Mesopotamians were polytheistic, which means they worshipped many gods. The gods the Mesopotamians worshipped were based on the natural happenings, their harvest's, hurricanes, and they loved (especially) one god that they claimed "made" the Tigris and Euphrates rivers flood in the summertime every year, so the crops were extra rich from the silt in the water, which came from the mountains.

Did the ancient Greeks believe in a soul?

Depends what you mean by both terms. In Greek mythology, Hades was the place of the dead. Inside Hades there were three sections. 1. Elysia, where heroes enjoyed a blissful existence (like Heaven). 2. Tartarus, where the truly wicked would suffer and where the Titans were imprisoned by the Olympians (like Hell). 3. Asphodel, an in between place for the majority of humanity, which was unpleasant but not terrible like Tartarus. (like Limbo).

Actuall its more like: Heaven was Elysium. The River Styx and Wall of Erebos where more like limbo. The Fields of Punishment was Purgatory. And of course Tartarus was hell. As you said Asphodel was also like limbo. Now Isle of the Blest is different. There is no relation between it and any of the Christian beliefs. Also the book "The Odyssey" written by the Greek poet Homer mentons heaven and hell. It also mentions the Underworld (which Odysseus travels to) and Mount Olympus.so the anciet Greeks had many different views. Since both terms appear in anciet writtings.
