Punk music isn't supposed to be mainstream. Punk, in its essences, is against establishment and mainstream music is a foundation of the establisment.

*ADDED BY ANOTHER USER* - She is very emotional, different, and expresses that in her songs; especially on the Under My Skin album. I actually like her Best **** Thing album despite it being preppy. But what I don't like is she creates this hardcore image then she goes and smiles and poses for the cameras like a model.....No, that's not the message I get from her songs but that's how she likes to pose and act.

Or how about her 2010 guest appearance on American Idol....she was as giddy as a high school girl. What is this? So hardcore Avril and so emotional Avril; yeah except not, She was VERY closed minded and said no to like every constant and laughed at most of them. There were even points where she was the only judge that found it humorous. I love listening to her music, But I hate her public appearances because she's being a totally different person than in her music.

The 1981 springbok tour to New Zealand resulted in huge demonstrations by many people in New Zealand. The country was divided in two; many people took to the streets in protest at the continuing state of apartheid in South Africa and believed that sporting links with this country represented support for it's racist regime. Rugby grounds were layed siege to and demonstrations turned violent as protesters clashed with riot police and rugby supporters. One match, the Sprinkboks vs Waikato, was called off after the pitch was invaded by protesters and very ugly scenes resulted as rugby fans attacked the demonstrators in the middle of the field. During the final test in Auckland a light plane was used to bomb the field with packets of flour, one of them felling All Black prop, Gary Knight. Two organisations that were involved in the protests were: H.A.R.T (Halt All Racist Tours) and C.A.R.E (Citizens Association for Racial Equality). The 1981 Springbok tour polarised the country and left scars that would not be healed until the World Cup in 1987.

Although it was originally intended to be a short theme song for the fragrance it developed into something which Lavigne put onto her album Goodbye Lullaby, released on March 2 2011.

Naahhh.. You know, whoever asked this question, Avril and Amy has alot of different skills when it comes to their music and style, it's A LOT. Amy Lee of Evanescence is pretty much like romantic goth/victorian rock chic. She's not really STRAIGHT GOTHIC, but I guess because of the meanings of the songs they write, it's pretty much described as gothic rock. And Avril Lavigne, she's mostly described as "Punk" chic because of her girly but rock look. And yeah, there's nothing to be VERSUS on these two great singers :)
