It is important for you to realise that this friend didn't take your girlfriend but rather went in for your ex-girlfriend. In this case, it won't be apt to describe it as 'stealing'. Since you left the girl and there's nothing going on between the two of you before he stepped in, I think there is very little you should worry over but rather consider it as a normal occurrence in life.
