How do you recharge AC system after compressor replacement 1996 Buick regal?

Did you vacuum the system?

Did you replace the accumulator?

If not, replace the accumulator, then have the system vacuumed...then you can recharge it. To recharge it, I would suggest taking it to someone, should run about 120 bux to vacuum and charge it. But if you want to do it at home, you can buy a vacuum (prolly on eBay would be best) for about 30-40 dollars, and a gauged can of refrigerant (if R134A) for another 20-25 bucks. Follow the directions that come with each component to a "T" or you rish blowing the lines...and if you are near them, that is a trip to the E.R.

How do you replace alternator on 1997 Buick Regal?

I've done this and it is not too difficult, because the alternator is nice and high on the engine and easily accessible for replacement. (My car has a 3.8 L V6 engine, and these instructions are from an actual replacement job on that engine.) 1. Remove the Serpentine belt, or at least remove it from the alternator's pulley. To do this you need an 18 mm socket to place on the tensioner pulley that is just to the left and below the alternator. This pulley is mounted on a spring loaded arm that will move CLOCKWISE if you apply clockwise torque to the nut that holds the pulley on. I believe the screw that holds the pulley has a LEFT hand thread, so that when you apply clockwise torque the nut does not come loose. When you apply torque with your socket wrench (the longer the handle, the easier this step is) the idler pulley will move down and slightly to the left, releasing tension on the serpentine belt, so that it can easily be removed. 2. Remove the decorative cover from the top of the engine. You do not need tools for this step. Just grasp the front edge the thing and lift up. Then do the same at the back edge. The cover will pop off. Notice where the four little sets of fingers are and where they snap on to some little pipes below the cover. You will need to snap these on later. 3. Ideally you should disconnect the red battery cable from the battery for this next step, but the battery is difficult to reach on this car. Perhaps you should wrap plastic electrical tape around the end of the red terminal so that it does not flex back and touch the battery again while you are working. If you are going to do this step, do it now, or even do it first. 4. Remove the bolts that are visible that hold the alternator in place. [If you skipped step 3 (disconnecting the red battery terminal, then at this time take something that is an electrical insulator -- I used a flat piece of cardboard that was big enough to sit the alternator on with ease, while I work on it.] 5. In this step, take care that you DO NOT LET THE END OF THE ALTERNATOR CABLE TOUCH ANYTHING THAT IS METAL, especially if you did not disconnect the battery terminals in an earlier step. I went so far as to rest the alternator on a piece of [insulating] cardboard while I was doing this step, to reduce chances of an electrical short to "chassis ground". Now remove the electical cables. The heavy red wire is removed by loosening a hex screw. As soon as you take this terminal off, wrap tape aroundit so that it cannot accidentally touch any part of the engine. A couple of smaller wires are connected with a plastic connector...locate and the connector's locking tab and push on it as you pull on the connector to remove it from the alternator's case. 6. If you buy a rebuilt alternator, take the old one in when you buy it so you can claim the "Core" trade in value. 7. Now reverse all of these steps. Connect the alternator electrically (don't forget the little connector!). Install the alternator with the bolts you just removed. Using the 18mm socket, rotate the tensioner pulley so you can get the serpentine belt back on. Snap the engine cover back on. Reconnect the battery terminal if you removed it. 8. Check to see if the alternator is charging. This is easy if you have a voltage gage (it won't read below 10 volts anymore.) If not, see if the headlights are a tiny bit brighter when the engine is idling fast as compared to when it is idling slowly. Hope this helps.

Replace rear shocks on 1994 buick regal?

Improve

Note: When replacing the struts, the mounts will also likely need to be replaced. Have these on hand to speed the repair process.

1. Raise vehicle, block front How_do_you_install_a_rear_strut_on_a_1994_buick_regal_custom_3800, support with jack stands.

2. Remove rear tire.

3. Install a 6"x3/8" bolt with a washer and nut on it through the hole on top of the auxillary damper (looks like a large rubber bumper behind the caliper). There are threads at the bottom of this opening.

4. Tighten the nut so that it compresses the auxilary damper slightly (just a few turns once it touches the damper).

5. Using a 15/16" wrench, loosen the nuts on the strut to knuckle bolts. These bolts are knurled so there is no need to hold the bolt head while loosening the nuts.

6. Loosen the two strut to body bolts at the top of the wheel well.

7. Lightly support the knuckle with a jack.

8. With the strut to knuckle bolt nuts loosened to the ends of the threads (to protect the threads from damage) knock the bolts through with a hammer. If it feels like there is still considerable tension on these bolts, it may be necessary to adjust the jack or the auxilary damper.

9. Remove the two strut to knuckle bolts and the strut to body bolts.

10. Remove the old strut and mount from the How_do_you_install_a_rear_strut_on_a_1994_buick_regal_custom_3800.

11. Prep the new strut and mount as per the manufacturer's instructions. This usually entails turning the compressed strut counterclockwise until it slowly decompresses. Then, using an Allen wrench and a wrench, the mount is attached to the strut piston.

12. Place the new strut and mount in the vehicle and reinstall strut to body bolts and strut to knuckle bolts. Tighten to manufacturer specs.

13. Remove the bolt from the auxillary damper, replace the wheel, and lower the vehicle.

How to replace oil pump on 1993 buick regal 3.8 liter?

They don't go bad. Drop the pan and clean the oil pick up screen. You may just have a faulty sensor. What is the problem?

Why is my 99 Buick regal supercharger losing psi.. SC used to boost around 7 psi and has slowly went from that to where it doesn't boost past 4 psi now. It doesn't leak. it's not loud. Maybe SC oil?

My 2003 Regal had this same problem. I checked it out and I found out that all it needed was SC oil. Hopefully you have done this since you asked this question. If you wait too long you might have to say goodbye to your SC. Also what I purchased that helped me a lot was something called a "Twister" it fits into your air intake. boosted my PSI by 12% and I spent 20 dollars on it, and spent 5 minutes putting it in. Check Ebay!

Are there pictures as to where the O2 sensors are located?

Yes, in a shop maintenance manual specific for that vehicle. Further, An O2 sensor(s) is part of the exhaust system and measures the remaining oxygen existing the engine exhaust as it exists the engine. Using this and a standard of around 20.9 % per volume of air of oxygen going into the intake, it allows the computer to adjust air/fuel mixture or how much gas gets squirted through the injectors. Air volume is measured through a MAP or MAF sensor via flow through the fixed volume of the throttle body which can be varied via the butterfly valve inside it which is actuated by the throttle or "gas pedal." on modern cars there can be two O2 sensors. Start looking at the exhaust manifold and work your way down the exhaust to the back underneath the vehicle. It will be there are wires coming from the exhaust or psrt of the exhaust.

How do you add transmission fluid in a 1998 buick regal?

Hi! You add transmission fluid where the dipstick is. The dipstick handle is red. If you have never had the transmission flushed out, you will need to buy a special red transmission fluid. My regal manual recommends using fluid labeled DEXRON-III. But, you can ask at the auto store. Make sure you don't put too much in, or it'll leak out and could cause a fire. Good Luck! :-)

That depends? Is the compressor freezing? Or is the whole condensor freezing? Well any way if the compressor is freezing try adding more refrigerant or put a crank case heater band on it. If the whole condensor is freezing (assuming it is a heat pump) throw it into cool for 10 minutes to 20 minutes or until condenser is unfrozen then call a tech and ask them to come and repair it cause your defrost board or defrost thermostat is bad.

How do you replace rear brake pads 2001 buick regal?

number 1 jack up rear of car and put safety stands under. their are 2 bolts that hold the caliper on. take 2 bolts out and you can lift the caliper off the rotor. discard old brake pads and you have to push the piston back in the caliper. you will need to open the bleeder screw on the caliper. in order to push the piston back you will need vise grip pliers. after you push the piston back close bleeder screw. install new brake pads and put caliper back on with the 2 screws or bolts. after you install the pads and caliper check the brake fluid resivor and fill to full line. pump brake pedal several times. if you have a hard and high pedal your done. if the pedal is low you have to bleed the rear calipers starting with the right rear first then the left rear. you can bleed them by opening the bleeder screw on the right rear and pump the brake pedal slowly 3 or 4 times. then tighten the bleeder screw. pump the pedal again 3 or 4 times and check the fluid. then do the same to the left rear caliper in the same order.
