How do I remove a 1968 cadillac sedan deville bottom half of the front bench seat?
The entire front seat must be removed. You cannot remove the bottom without removing the seat backs and center armrest.
Remove the seat by unbolting the seat adjuster mounts from the floorboard, then have someone help you remove the entire front bench from the car. It is extremely heavy and one person cannot remove it without damaging something.
Remove the rear covers of the seat backs. They are held on by screws at the bottom on either side. You must also remove the strap across the seat back. Then lift the rear cover off.
Remove the center console. Several screws hidden beneath the trim flap on top of the console - you'll have to locate and remove them until it comes off.
Remove the metal trim on both sides of the bench to expose the pivot bars for the seat backs.
Pry each pivot bar out until it is free of the pivot pin, then lift the seatback up at an angle and disengage the inner pivot pin. This is pretty tricky.

Try to locate the fan relay and check to see if it is stuck on. To do this pull the relay out and see if the fan stops. If so try replacing it. There may be another relay just like it that operatesa something else that you can temporarily swap to test it. Look for these under the hood usually in the fuse box Check the blower module under the hood . Upper left a when hood is opened. If blower is now running with key off, remove main connector , if it turns off you got it. Rather simple to replace if nec, but a costlly part

There were two models. One that had the button in the glove compartment and the manual ones. If you have the switch in the glove box, make sure your vehicle is turned on. If that still doesn't work, it could be a bad fuse.
If you have the manual one, you have to push on the door on the side closest to the driver's door. That will push the other side open.

UPDATE: I had the same problem with the fuel door latch on my 95' Cadi DeVille but this was due to cold weather and the mechanism freezing up and it was not an electrical or fuse problem. When you open the trunk, pull back the uphostly on the left side and you should see wires (not electrical) connecting to a plastic cylinder which contols the pin that locks the door. The black plastic cylinder (not the clear cover around it) needs to be sprayed with some lubricant (I used the door lock lube w/ graphyte). Once you do that, there is a piece that sticks out on the cylinder. Switch the black piece up and it will unlock, move it down and it will lock. Hopefully this will help.
