What was the last year Cadillac had wing tail lights?

Need a better definition on "wing" tail lights. In the late 40's through late 50's, the Cadillac had tail lights at the top back of the rear quarter panels. 1956 was the last of the tail lights at the very top of the quarter panel. 1950 through 56 tail lights were more like bubbles at the top of the tail fin. In 57 and 58, while models varied on tail light placement, the tail light lenses were more "aerodynamically" shaped with the car. In 1959, the tail light lenses took on a bullet shape, and while near the top of the quarter panel, they were not at the top of it. Throughout the 60's, while the tail lights remained in the "wing" they were not at the top of it. This remained the trend until about 1964, when the tail lights took up the entire up and down length of the quarter panel end. In some Caddys, this is still the trend. However, in Eldorados, Sevilles, and other models of Cadillac, the tail lights could be up and down, across the back, or even square (for example the 1976 through 1979 Seville).

You get no heat out of right side 2001 SLS Cadillac?

what i am assuming is being talked about is that when you go to turn on the heat in a Seville, heat will only be produced out of one side of vents. there are a number of valves in a Seville which control wether the air that is coming out of the vents in hot or cold. in a Seville there are a pair of these valves one for the passenger side air, and one for the driver side air. the reason why only one side of the car is blowing hot air is because one of these valves has gotten stuck in the "cold air" position and needs to be replaced. the same thing happened on my car but the drivers side was the one not blowing heat.

1993 Cadillac Seville heater blower does not work. Is there an auxiliary heater blower if yes do both need to be changed?

ANSWER:

The 1990's Cadillac Seville STS vehicles come with (2) independent blowers installed from the factory. The largest blower is the front blower. It is located in the center of the dash and can be accessed from the engine compartment. To remove it, you must cut the hard plastic/rubber shield holding it in place. (YES! You heard right, I said cut it.) It's designed by Cadillac to be removed this way. Cut along the dotted lines. Funny, yet true. With this blower out of commission, you can not get heat or defrosted/de-iced windows cleared. Won't happen.

The other blower is a smaller blower located between the driver/front passenger's seats just behind the gear shift housing. This is controlled by the rear passengers not the driver. This unit will not create enough heat to heat the car. It's heat/cold source is fed by the larger front main blower. Both work independent of the other. When one goes out the other works and vice versa.

Where are the cooling fan relays on a 1996 Cadillac Seville STS?

The cooling fan relays (there are three) on this model are located in the maxifuse panel under the hood. Its location should be documented in your manual. If not it should be located above the air cleaner. You may also have to remove the air cleaner to remove the shroud guarding the maxifuses and relays.

Traction control is what keeps your wheels from spinning on ice dirt mud etc. On the end of the gear shifter is a button and it should say with an arrow "traction control". If functioning properly, when you push the button it will turn traction control back on.

What is the spark plug gap for a 1998 Cadillac 4.6 liter?

There should be a "Specifications Chart" underneath the hood. Mine is on the right side of the car, left side if you are opening the hood. Check right in front, in front of the radiator and the strut mounts.

Major correction to that answer....

REMEMBER, YOU DID NOT BUILD THIS CAR, GM DID, AND THEY WANT ALL THE CASH THEY CAN GET OUT OF YOU...

IRON HEADS ON AN ALUMINUM BLOCK (NOT DESIGNED FOR HIGH TORQUE VALUES) W/O THE SEALANT MEANS YOU WILL BE CALLING ME TO TOW YOU OFF THE FREEWAY TO GIVE YOU THAT NEW CAR FEELING...

How do you replace the valve cover gasket for 1998 cadillac Northstar?

first off you want to remove all the bolts on the covers. Off the top of my head I would say they are 10mm. Then if it has that water pump pulley go get or use the one you have to pull that pulley, and remove the belt. Now take the covers off the rear one can be tricky esp. on the northstar. When you have the covers off take the old crush gasket off, and put some grease in the indented lip of the valve cover. yeah It sounds weird but Ive been doing these covers for a while, and this is the easiest way. The grease will not hurt anything, and all it really does is help the valve cover gasket stick in that crack when you flip it to put it on. (IMPORTANT) Only grease the top of the gasket that goes into the valve cover!!!!DON"T USE EXCESS. ounce you have greased, and installed the gasket into the valve cover flip the cover over and slide over valves, and over pulley shaft. set it down square. This will ensure that the gasket doesn't fall out, and it will seat properly. reinstall water pump pulley, and belt. Repeat same on rear one if front went OK don't worry their is no pulley on the rear cover. I hope this helped anyone that has needed a how to, and good luck. Kevin

How do you remove the valve cover the one next to the radiator on a 98 Cadillac Seville STS?

I assume this question has more to do with how do you get the cover off than where the bolts are and what has to be removed. The answer is you can't get it off without trimming the radiator support. I cut a piece about 1/2" by 2" off the passenger side of the radiator support. It's where two pieces of metal are folded over and spot welded together. The cover will come right out after that.

Why would the AC of a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue blow warm on the driver side and cold air on the passenger side?

The problem is the servo motor that swaps the vent door from the cooling coil to the heater coil.

Answerbefore you tear apart the dash to get to your driver side servo motor-disconnect your battery for 5-minutes, with both front doors open reconnect your battery(this resets your on board computer),then turn your car on and turn your a/c on to high with the coldest setting on both sides for dual air systems and leave the car running for a few minutes. you will feel the air cold again. there is a sensor on the passenger side that will trigger the servo motor to not move if the front door is closed. servos usually get stuck after the power was cut off. if this does not do it, have your a/c sytem checked for leaks.

Answer

I have the same problem on my 99 Olds Intrigue and tried disconnecting the negative battery cable for 5 minutes. That did not correct the problem-no change. Any advice is welcome.

AnswerThis is a Dual Climate System. If you're not familiar with this setup, there's a driver and passenger climate setting. The passenger setting knob is on the right of the climate control console. If you have already properly adjusted this setting, there's a problem with the servo motor being out of the preset range for the a/c & heater doors. Every time power is cut from the unit, the servo resets the doors by doing a "sweep" from full cold to full hot maximum range. Over time the servo will fall out of range from constant full range flexing, and the part that controls the range limit must be replaced. Reseting the main module by disconnecting the battery has a slim chance of successfully fixing the issue.

Answer

The car seems to do this after the battery is disconnected or looses power while the A/C is in the on position. I tried everything that I saw on the Internet. The only thing that worked for me immediately was to remove the a/c heat control unit from in the car, directly below your cars radio/head unit but make sure to turn the a/c off first or the ac/c doors inside will stay open and continue to blow heat in when reconnected. (how to do)Turn off the A/C first, take the cover off and remove the two screws, pull the unit out, unplug the wire harness and let it sit for 30 seconds. It will reset itself plug it back in and the a/c will work again, of course the put the cover back on ect..Should take less than 5 minutes to do.

How do you reset the Change Brake Pads Soon light on a 1999 Cadillac Seville?

there is no "reset" new pad and sensors is the fix if you have had this done they botched the job

Your 1994 cadallic Seville is saying wait 3 minutes due to anti thefe device what does this mean and your car wont start thanks?

Yur car has a "VATS" system - the key has a little 'chip' in it near the top. This is a resistor, which is read by the car computer when you try to start. The wires that connect the connector in the switch to the ECM are VERY thin, and often break. There are two ways to fix this. 1) The right way. You have to change the ignition switch. This is a royal pain involving disassembling the top end of the steering column. 2) The easy way. Put a mulitimeter across the chip and read the resistance, then disconnect the wires between the ignition switch and the ECM, and put that value of resistor in there. Here.... http://vats.likeabigdog.com/ is the detailed instructions on how to do this. Richard
