How do you introduce a baby rat to an adult rat?

It depends on how old the baby rat is and also what gender both the rats are. It is easier to introduce an 8-10 week old rat to an adult male. Whereas, it is easier to introduce a 12-16 weeks old rat to an adult female.

Females have a tendency to hurt babies that are too young.

I have owned many rats in the past, both female groups and male. I currently have seven males in one cage and all are different ages.

How long will a rat live after eating poision?

Eating rat poison is potentially life-threatening, especially for very small dogs. The rat poison interferes with the production of blood clotting factors, and three to five days afterward, dogs will start to bleed into different body cavities. Without intensive care including a plasma transfusion, it is often fatal.

Of course, it is too late to help your puppies if they haven't already recovered, but this may help others with the same problem.

To treat a dog who has eaten rat poison, a veterinarian will:

1. Induce vomiting within two hours (ideally at a veterinary hospital, but you can do it at home with several teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide).

2. Start treatment with vitamin K, 5 mg per kg of body weight, twice a day for three weeks or longer.

3. If later than two hours, but less than 12 hours, give activated charcoal to help prevent absorption of the rat poison.

4. If more than two days after ingestion, check clotting times and give a plasma transfusion which contains clotting factors in addition to starting on vitamin K.

5. In some critical cases, intravenous fluids and other supportive care including blood transfusions may be required.

If your puppies have been getting adequate doses of vitamin K, likely no further treatment will be required. Keep in mind vitamin K can also be prescribed through a human pharmacy, since the treatment for rat poison ingestion in people is the same. (Children have been known to ingest it). It is available in 5 mg and 25 mg capsules.

I'm so very sorry If this isn't workable for you. He should live for at least a few more days, but when this happened to my friend her vet did tell her this. So try very hard to keep your dog away fro that though.

Do flies throw up when they land?

The fly is not regurgitating or vomiting. Flies secrete saliva (drool) onto whatever they're eating. They're not eating your desk surface, your plate, your table, your hand - whatever else they land on. So no, they don't spit and drool EVERY TIME they land. They never vomit. Flies don't actually do that. They're spit is not what you need to worry about anyway. The reason a fly is unsanitary is because they land lots of places: On dung piles, bathroom floors, trash cans, toilets, animals.

How do long do a mouse be pregnant?

rats stay preggers for about 28 days total u will notice a change in her behavior ...

How can you tell if your female white mouse is pregnant?

Mice pregnancy generally does not show until the mouse is fifteen days pregnant. The mouse gestation period is twentyone days long. At day fifteen your mouse will be quite large and her stomach will be very visible. Before the fifteen day mark it is very hard to tell if the mouse is pregnant. I would suggest weighing it every day to see if is getting any heavier. To do this you will need a scale that weighs things in grams or ounces. If you do not want to weigh your mouse I would wait a few days and see what it looks like. If your mouse has not given birth in three weeks, than it is not pregnant.

What kind of food do you use in a trap to catch a mouse?

Believe it or not, rodents prefer seeds FAR more than they enjoy cheese like on the cartoons. Although, the best BAIT is usually a small spoonful of peanut butter. And, you can increase the likelihood of a rat hitting the bait if you put a piece of breakfast cereal like corn flakes on the peanut butter.

Can you keep a mouse with a gerbil and will they breed?

It depends what you mean by a baby, a true baby that is still suckling and learning to feed itself no, but mice can have babies from a young age, once they are weaned and independent from their mother and are about 5 weeks old, but they tend not to until they are fully grown and have the body fat reserves at about 2 months old.

Cat mint which is an herb is supposed to deter mice. Place plants in pots or hang upside down in various areas. You should also put every kind of opened and or dried fooods like pastas, rice, sugar, flour etc., food in air tight storage containers. I have compost outside and recycle everything else. Whatever trash we have that is either not compostable or recyclable can be held in a plastic grocery bag. These thisng will also deter mice when they cannot find a food source.

Nah. I recommend the Middle Eastern way. Just get a slipper and keep whacking the mouse until it bleeds. You can buy these from most middle eastern shops. The instruction's are on the back of the packet.

What happens if a rat bites you?

Um...when you mean rat, do you mean a pet rat or a wild one? Rats are curious creatures, and well, it could have bitten out of curiosity, or it could have just been nibbling. It could have been that you smell of food, and its first reaction is to get a bite. If it was a pet rat, you'd be safer, as long as the rat is clean and has no illness. If it was a wild one, then I suggest you go to a doctor to check for infections, although I'm not saying a pet one is free of infections. If it simply nibbled you, and there're no signs of your skin peeling off, or blood, then you simply need to get it washed, and you'll be fine.

Does the male mouse need to be taken out of cage when newborns are born?

For a higher sucess rate of the baby mice being born or growing up, once you see the mother mouse begin building a nest she should be placed by herself until the babies are out and about by themselves in whatever you have placed the mother mouse in.

answer i would say yes u can ask a pet sore for more info

i have heard the father can hurt the babies but that hasn't happened to mine i left the father mouse wid its babies i think its ok but if she has many babies 4+ then he should be removed if u don't want another batch of babies in 3 weeks its best to remove the male straight away because she can get pregnant within 24 hours of giving birth so watch out for that! i had big problems!!and also the babies inbreed with the mother so remove the baby boys when they are 4 weeks old but don't put them with the father because they will fight if a male doesnt know or hasn't growen up with another male in the cage they will hurt each other...

How do you keep mice out of a house?

There are two different types of mice, White Footed Mice and the House Mouse. To keep my house from being infested with mice, I used the Dr T's Rat A Way Repellent that I bought off from a website called

www.acepestcontrolproducts.com

I just applied the Dr T's Rat A Way Repellent around the foundation of my house and the mice are gone. This repellent has a special ingredient that "repels" mice from the area. Believe me it works! I used it and i dont have mice or rats anymore! Try it yourself before you call the exterminator because you never know how it easy it was and plus you would be able to save money yourself! The prices are cheap too on the website so you would be spending a lot less tha you would calling an exterminator.

How do you know if you have a rat or mice?

They are different species of rodents.

Mice aren't predators. Rats are predators.

Rats are social animals. Mice are not social animals.

Rats tend to be bigger than mice.

The rat is bigger than the mouse.

A mouse is small and has a skinny tail. A rat is bigger and has a thicker tail.

Mice have larger, almost disproportionately sized ears in comparison to rats. Their faces are more pointed, and their legs are less developed/muscular. Plus, they cannot chew through as much as rats can chew through. Overall they are much weaker. In fact, rats have been known to eat mice.

Rats are much bigger, they are more intelligent, make better pets and aren't as easy to catch or kill. Mice are small, timid and don't live as long as rats. They live for only 1-3 years and rats live 2-5 years.
The mouse is much smaller than the rat. The two animals are of different species. Rats have a pointed muzzle, a long slender tail and well developed forepaws. The color can be black to brown. The mouse is a small rodent, usualy with gray or brown fur and long and hairless tails. Mice have large ears in proportion to rats and their forepaws are less powerful.
The difference between a rat and mouse is that a rat refers to a medium-sized rodent that has long thin tails whereas a mouse is a sparrow-sized rodent which also has long thin tails.
