Can i give lice to my pet rat?

I have had rats as pets for many years and have asked the question to many vets and the answer was the same from them all, NO. The lice that pet rats can get are different from the ones that infest humans. The human lice are not interested in the rats and the lice the rats get are not interested in humans.

How often can you feed your 7-month-old baby pureed carrots without her skin turning orange?

Here is advice: * Once children start eating something other than formula fruits and sweet veggies like carrots are the first things. All children need a balanced diet. * I wouldn't give them it more than once a day. That should be fine. * That orange color is not harmful. Don't let it bother you, it is a sign of a baby that gets plenty of beta-carotine from carrots, squash etc.

What plants do rats eat?

They are scavengers & not typically plant eaters. Many in urban areas thrive off of living out of dumpsters behind restaurants. Rodents are commensal-meaning "sharing man's table" & that is what they really want. They like anything with seeds/nuts like peanut butter, or even bacon, avacados, chicken, fruit also highly attracted to grain products like flour & bread. Warehouses that have them have their bread racks hit all the time. They also like those bread sticks from the Olive Garden (I am serious, I just can't state which restaurant it was for obvious reasons) I've seen them hit the pies in places like Chili's & Bakers square too.. In fact, a mouse can live it's whole life in a bag of dog food & most rodents eat just about anything.

Why do rats go cannibilistic?

Mothers tend to kill deformed or wounded infants, which may allow her to allocate resources to the healthy pups who are more likely to survive. Mothers may also kill entire litters when they are stressed, perhaps because the mother perceives the environment as too hostile for pup survival, or she perceives herself as unable to rear the litter successfully, so she recuperates some her energetic investment by consuming the young. Malnourished mothers, and mothers who have an abnormal birth experience, may also become infanticidal. Read more: http://www.ratbehavior.org/infanticide.htm
