I have had rats as pets for many years and have asked the question to many vets and the answer was the same from them all, NO. The lice that pet rats can get are different from the ones that infest humans. The human lice are not interested in the rats and the lice the rats get are not interested in humans.

My first mouse as used to being alone but after a couple of days, he adapted to his new girlfriend, although, at first for the first couple of days they'll fight, its nothing to worry about unless your mouse is bleeding or seriously injured, mine just chased eachover, also make SURE you clean your cage before introducing the new mouse. well, actually it is better wait..... if you don't the older rat might actually EAT the little baby, this is common with almost all rodents. so i would wait until it has fur, looks stable enough, and is independent on its own.

All children need a balanced diet. * I wouldn't give them it more than once a day. That should be fine. * That orange color is not harmful. They are scavengers & not typically plant eaters. Many in urban areas thrive off of living out of dumpsters behind restaurants. Rodents are commensal-meaning "sharing man's table" & that is what they really want. They like anything with seeds/nuts like peanut butter, or even bacon, avacados, chicken, fruit also highly attracted to grain products like flour & bread. Warehouses that have them have their bread racks hit all the time. They also like those bread sticks from the Olive Garden (I am serious, I just can't state which restaurant it was for obvious reasons) I've seen them hit the pies in places like Chili's & Bakers square too.. In fact, a mouse can live it's whole life in a bag of dog food & most rodents eat just about anything.

Mice are kind of skiddish ansd don't like to be handled much. They also have a lot of energy. Hamsters like to sleep most of the time and like to be handled. But sometimes they will be up at night. Like mice they are nocternal.

Rats are awesome pets! I have a pet rat, and she is amazing! You can teach a rat many tricks, almost like a dog. You can teach them how to swim, how to balance on a rope, and even how to play fetch! Instead of holding my rat with my hands, I have her crawl onto my shoulders, and walk around my house with her on my shoulders. Rats need big cages, and they need to have bars. This is because they like to climb on their cages! Rats are fun, lovable, and just great to have around the house! I would definitely recommend a rat for a pet!

well for regular food you should go with regular brand packages, but if your out of that store bought food, garden foods will work, except do not feed them avocados or chocolate. and as a treat they enjoy yogurt dips.

But if you do happen to leave it out of a cage, then it will not bite you.. unless you are mean to it or don't feed it enough.
