Because of water loss and more buildings being built it means countries are increasing mayjorly so more of the dessart is being used and off the top of my head I once remember researching that in approximately 15years 1/4 of the dessert would have been scrapped and buildings would have been built over the top if it. Can home grown from a baby water turtle be set free and survive?
Where are you located? I am in Wilmington, NC.
I have 2 of them - one will be 3 years old on May and it is female. She is 12" long (shell is 9"). The other one will be 2 years old on June - and it is male. He is 8" long (shell is 6").
I find them when they were just born and size of dollar coin. I kept them in aquarium for 2 years then moved to garden pond for summer but have to transfer they indoor for winter and they are too big for aquarium righ now so I have to keep them in but tub till spring.

How are fire bellied toads told apart from boys and girls?
You do not tell them apart like other animals.... There are different ways to tell. You have to look out for all of the signs. It will not be possible if you don't have more than two toads. I have 5 and I will be getting 1 or 2 more tomorrow. Okay, well here's what you do. First look at their front legs. Toads with thin front legs are girls; toads with thick legs are boys. Now you have to put on Latex gloves.(touching toads can poison you and the toads, trust me, toad poison burns) Grab one of your toad's hind legs (gently!) and spread out its feet. You have to look at the webbing. (the webbed feet they have for swimming) If the webbing goes all the way or most of the way up the toys it is a boy. If the webbing goes half way or less up the toes, it is a girl. Any toads that you hear making noises are definetly boys. I can't describe the noise, because each male toad has his own call(each of mine have 3). If any of your toads are mating(they look like one is hugging the other) the male is the one on top. Put all these clues together. You need all of them to tell.
Why does pet reptiles stink up your house?
If pet reptiles are stinking up a house...then the keeper of the reptiles is neglecting them, and is NOT a good reptile keeper. Reptiles should not have any real noticeable odor. Sometimes cage carpets will hold odor...if that is an issue, wash them with bleach, or use paper towel or newspaper instead.
Cleaning cages on an appropriate schedule prevents odor. Even an entire room full of hundreds of snakes should have very little odor--just a hint from the few enclosures that contain urates or feces from that day.
When a snake produces waste--clean the cage. Clean the cages of lizards at least once per week, and more often for species that produce more waste. It's very simple. Reptiles don't smell--their droppings and urine may. Keep their cages properly cleaned, and voila--no smell.
Sometimes they are brown. Sometimes they can be a green-ish color too.
