If a kitten gets dropped in water will it stunt its growth?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Though unlikely to permanently stunt growth, dropping a kitten in water can cause immediate issues like hypothermia and shock, as well as long-term problems like ear infections and respiratory issues. Always remove the kitten promptly and monitor for any signs of illness. Consider alternatives like misting or a shallow bath instead.

Why does my male cat love on and follow my husband around all of the sudden?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There could be a few reasons for this sudden change in behavior. It's possible that your male cat has developed a stronger bond with your husband, or that your husband has been giving him more attention recently. Cats can also be sensitive to changes in routine or environment, so something may have shifted that has made your husband more appealing to your cat.

How do you help a stressed cat?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

ANSWER

If it's a new cat then time, patience, talking to it, giving it love and attention but not over stimulating it

They will soon calm down and start to trust you

If its a cat you've had for a while, make sure there's no changes to its environment, life, food, toys, death, etc. and again all the same as before and maybe even a trip to the vet (and of course all of the above too.)

You can also try Rescue Remedy by Bach Flower Essences. It has worked great for me in my cat rescue work! Your local green grocer probably stocks it.

Do cats fart when they are mad?

User Avatar

What household food can you feed kittens?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If the kitten has already weaned off milk, they can eat soft baby food like products, although be sure none of these have onion or garlic in them. They do best with things like plain chicken. Do not feed them vegetables or products containing vegetables, or cow's milk. If they still need milk, talk to a veterinarian about buying bottles of cat milk formula.

Please note that human foods (unless you wish to feed your kitten a raw diet - which requires a lot of research) should never be substituted for a complete and balanced cat food.

How do you treat a superfecial cat abscess?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Depending where the abscess is... it usually needs to be lanced and drained. This is very painful to the animal so care is advised when doing so. A vet should be seen for large abscesses. To clean the wound area use warm boiled water in a syringe to gently force the water throughout the wound. Put a medicated cream or antibacterial salve on the wound and try to bandage it so the cat will not lick it too much. Repeat the salve twice a day and check for reabscessing. If it does...a trip to the vet is advised.

At what age does a cat leave her kittens?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The best time to separate kittens from their mother is when the kittens are twelve to fourteen weeks old.

Kittens six to eight weeks old have not learned any important socialisation or behaviour skills yet, which kittens learn from eight weeks onwards. During this time kittens will learn how to play and interact with their littermates, mother and any other animals and humans in the house. Some kittens are not yet fully weaned until after eight weeks.

They will learn what behaviour is acceptable and what is not from their mother, and will learn how to play and share with their littermates. They will also learn about grooming and litterbox use at this crucial time. Most kittens are well socialised by the time they are twelve weeks old, and are very likely to grow into very gentle and affectionate pets.

User Avatar

don't shout its name at it, or ot will be confused when you need to call it. shout NO! or STOP!

if you're in bed and it is clawing your face, then blow in its face if you are close to it.

if it's on the floor grab it's scruff (back of the neck) firmly but gently and give it a little wiggle, whilst growling or hissing like it's mum would. (do NOT lift it by the scruff)

if the cat's on the worktop gently push its bum to encourage it off and say OFF, repeat EVERY time.

Why does your cat chase you and scratch at your legs?

User Avatar

Asked by DeacAAA187A

beacuse there nice and so sweet :D

I can think of two reasons and it depends on the type of bite.

If the cat is putting just her front teeth on you (nipping), then she is probably hungry. Just think of kitten behaviour how they will rub against their mom before nursing.

If the cat is putting her fangs on you softly, then she probably wants to play. The rub is to say, "Hey, I like you" and the nip is, "Want to play."

Is it normal for the mother Cat to move her 3 day old kitten?

User Avatar

Asked by KierstenAdams

It depends on where the cat moved it, do you consider it safe? But you should never touch a kitten before it's eyes are open, unless you absolutely have to, because they are more prone to diseases when their eyes aren't open yet, talk to your vet and ask if it's a safe place and if not, then ask how you should move them or if you should touch them. It won't kill them but it's good to use precaution.
