Fixing (neutering for males, spaying for females) a cat is when you take away their reproductive organs so that they can no longer mate. Fixing your cat is a very good thing to do, because there are many cats in shelters that need a loving home, and letting your cats have kittens only add to that number! I believe the ASPCA will fix a cat for free, if you need to do so.
What is the proper way to remove stitches after your cat is spayed?
My male cat had to be opened in 2 places to neuter him, then had to return 6 months later and was opened again. The vet said the cat would try to remove the stitches himself while grooming and unless one got infected, I would not need to come back in. If, by some chance, any stitches remained when the wound was well approximated that the cat didn't remove, I could remove them with small embroidery scissors. Maybe because I was a nurse and had experience removing sutures he felt comfortable with me removing any that remained.

a while back I found a cat and it's kittens in my garage and I thought it would be the right thing if I put a blanket or a piece of carpet underneath them instead of them being on concrete well that was a horrible idea...when I did that the mother just left all 6 of her kittens and that was my fault...so if I could go back I would of just left them alone, and now I am raising her kittens

Also be aware that a dog bite to a cat can cause an internal infection. The bite may not fester or abcess on the skin, but the infection could become systemic internally. I know this as my beloved cat died this morning after being diagnosed by a veterinarian that a healed bite punctured her lung and introduced bacteria. If your cat loses weight, is not as playful, and more lethargic following a dog bite--even weeks after the fact, there may be an internal infection that is deadly without early treatment.
