How do you change the body control module on a 2005 Chevy Cobalt?
The body module on the 05 Cobalt is part of the fuse box,under the right side of the center console,its rather simple to change.There a couple plugs to unplug & 4 bolts that mount in to the console.However replacing with a new one requires programming with the Tech 2 scan tool & a web site that very few independent shops have access to.So it would most likely have to be perfomed at a GM dealer.Replacing with a used one im not totally sure about the programming,I do know its not as simple as plug & play on a used one either.
How do you jump start a Chevrolet cobalt by engine?
Under the hood on the driver side is a fuse/relay box with a rod sticking out. This is where you hook the positive. Above that on the suspension is a spot to hook the negative but it can hook to basicly anything metal that provides a ground to the car

Okay there is no dipstick for the transmission fluid because the GM company wants you to take it in to spend over 100 bucks to get it done. You shouldn't need to change your transmission fluid till like at least 55,000 miles. and if you want to do it yourself you need to make up a special funnel yourself .
The location on the 2.2 engine is to the right on the engine oil cap. You have to look down though at few tubes and you will see the cap half way down. Such a pain to look for so use a flashlight unless you are in really bright light.
And if you want to actually go about changing it yourself you will need a Allen key and whatever amount of fluid goes into it. I have yet to do mine but I found out where I need to add it and found out where to let the old fluid out. Hope this helps. I found it on youtube .

I have a 2007 cobalt with a 5 speed manual, 2.2 ecotec engine, driving mostly highway. It just turned 180k. i only changed front wheel bearings, rubber bushings on the lower a frame, brake pads and oil too of course. These parts were not relatively expensive. I would say this car is very reliable and economical to drive. The interior is kind of cheap looking, but we need make some sacrifices to support those "struggling" UAW people I suppose.

I currently own a 2006 Cobalt and I was having the same problem. The main thing that you should do is to do a maintenance on it. Not saying that it could be a number of other problems, but you should change the oil regularly,(they say every 3,000 miles, but look at the Info center on the dash and try to change it before it hits single digits), replace the air filter and fuel filter, and possibly change out the old spark plugs and wires. After doing this to mine, I saw a 3.0 mpg increase and ran a whole lot smoother.

There is a plate on top of the engine with four Allen head screws, remove that and the plugs are there, you will need i belive a 10mm socket to take the plug wires off. This is how they are on a 2007 SS i am not sure about what model you have.
try turning the steering wheel it might be sprung causing the key from turning all the way. or try pushing on the shift lever, it will not lock the wheel until the care is in park !
