Why is my 2005 checy impala overheating smells like coolant?
Some possibilities: Intake leak, head gasket leak, rad, waterpump, hoses, heatercore, cooling fans not coming on, stuck thermostat. If it's a 3.4L they are common for intake & head gasket leaks. Check for coolant in the oil (oil looks like a chocolate milkshake), look for leaks around the intake area or drips on the ground. Maybe use a gas analyzer or emmision machine to check for hydrocarbons in the rad to see if the head gasket is leaking. 3.8L are more common for intake leaks than head gasket leaks but check it over the same as above.

What is the difference between 1994 impala ss and 1996 impala ss?
the 1994 Impala SS was the first year of the new body style. It was based off the new LT1 Caprice 9c1 police package. It was basically a cop car with luxury options. In 94 the rear (3rd) side window had a small plate covering the lower rear corner which was painted to match the car and held the Impala emblem. in 95 and 96 the cover was replaced by incorpoating the design into part of the body. The side view mirrors were mounted on the doors in 94 and moved to the lower front corner of the front window in 95 and 96. The 94 and 95's had digital speedometer and in 96 they were changed to a standard full gauge cluster with tachometer. The 94 and 95 also had a column shifter and in 96 was changed to a floor shifter. in addition another impala emblem was added to the center console in 96 near the gear shift. The 96 also had a slightly different computer which allowed for less costomizability. The grill of the 96 also featured a red "Bowtie" as opposed to the silver one on the 94 and 95. There are a few other small difference, but that's all i can think of off the top of my head. In a side note, many people clone the impalas from caprices, its usually easy to tell from the things i mentioned above, but always check the VIN because with enough time and money you can make a pretty convincing fake SS. 96 was the highest production year but are the most saught after. 94 was the lowest making them slightly more valuable. hope this helps

These vehicles were assembled from imported CKD (Completely Knocked Down Kits) from Canada.
Australia also received a small number (probably fewer than a 50) 1965 RHD Chevrolet's that were exported to Australia as fully built cars.
The export market for RHD Chevrolet's around the world however included many other countries. Some these of countries assembled CKD kits as was the case in Australia.
By comparison with North America LHD production the RHD cars would have only represented a small percentage and while I have spent a lifetime researching this subject I have never been able to get even a close estimate as what the world wide production might have been.

How do you get to the heater core on a 2000 Chevy Impala?
To remove the heater core you will need to pull down both pass and drivers side under dash, remove the three screws holding the fan blower in and remove the 8 remaing bolts holding up the heater core cover then you will need to remove the hose clip in side the box, pull both clamps off firewall remove heater hoses pull core, Install reverse order should take a hour and half start to finish make sure you vent coolant lines when you refill this info is for a 3.4 engine .Ed

I believe the egr valve is located towards the firewall on the driverside right next to the fuel rail. Its up top so if you are do it yourselfer, it shouldn't be to difficult to replace yourself.
Where is the 2000 Chevy Impala Coolant temperature sensor located a 3.4 engine?
The coolant temperature sensor is located on the passenger side radiator tank about 1/3 of the way down. It has a square back and faces toward the engine and is held in place by a spring clip. It has a two wire electrical connector and it is in direct contact with the radiator coolant via an o-ringed cylinder. You will loose coolant when changing it. If this sensor goes bad the A/C will not work, the temperature gauge will not work, fuel economy goes down, the low coolant light will light, and the cooling fans will run regardless of engine temperature.

Remove 2 screws holding the main handle on. Remove screw in centre of door release handle. Use a flat blade screwdriver to remove the circlip from the window winder, (this can be tricky,) then working from th lower corner pop the cover off, work around the door popping each retaining clip off - you just pull gently.
Easy done!
