Computer Aided Design

Computer Aided Design (CAD) is the act of using computers to design an object. CAD techniques follow standard engineering design and drafting procedures, but use a computer to help speed up the process.

What is solid area scan conversion?

The problem of finding out pixels that lie within the solid area and find out those that lie outside the solid area that form a part of the object from those that do not is called scan conversion.

What is the Mass definition as it relates to architecture?

Mass, in architecture, refers to how much weight an object can hold, such as a ceiling beam or a floorboard.

Advantages of vector data models over raster model?

• Data can be represented at its original resolution and form without generalization.

• Graphic output is usually more aesthetically pleasing (traditional cartographic representation);

• Since most data, e.g. hard copy maps, is in vector form no data conversion is required.

• Accurate geographic location of data is maintained.

• Allows for efficient encoding of topology, and as a result more efficient operations that require topological information, e.g. proximity, network analysis.

• Compact data structure; requires less space to store data

How do you change the color in autocad?

You can go to properties and change the color for an individual object or you can set up layers with their own colors and assign the object to a layer.

Does Serif software work on Apple computers?

Once Pro Software has been installed you then nedd to sync the conjestion key to ProTic file navigated in the usb tree. Righ click open the file and then click install using Pro software and there you have it.

What are the levels of a flow chart?

When you are developing a flowchart, consider how it will be used and the amount and kind of information needed by the people who will use it. This will help you determine the level of detail to include.

-Macro Level. The top leadership may not need the amount of detail

required by the workers in a process. A big picture, or macro-level,

view of the process may be enough for their purposes. Generally, a

macro-level flowchart has fewer than six steps. Think of it as a view of

the ground from an airplane flying 30,000 feet above sea level.

-Mini Level. The term (mini or midi) is used for a flowchart that falls

between the big picture of the macro level and the fine detail of the

micro level. Typically, it focuses on only one part of the macro-level

flowchart. Using the airplane analogy, you see the level of detail as if

looking at the ground from 10,000 feet above sea level.

-Micro level. People trying to improve the way a job is done need a

detailed depiction of process steps. The micro-level, or ground level,

view provides a very detailed picture of a specific portion of the process by documenting every action and decision. It is commonly used to chart how a particular task is performed.

What is your core competency for this position?

Depends on applicants expertise. If you are a welder, tell them what welding processes you knew, then what welding joint design you can weld and the welding position you can perform.

What is the cost of qtp 9.2 license?

A few years ago it was around $10,000 per seat.

How do you add color to a black and white picture using GIMP?

First : make sure the pic is in RBG mode.

Second : "colorize" it.

That give just one color - so you'll have to sectionalize the picture and change that color ... I suggest you use "curves" to do that.

What are some disadvantages of self-modifying code?

Any self-modifying code will be practically impossible to debug, as problems would depend on the current state of the code when the bug occurred. Reproducing bugs would be problematic. There may also be security risks or the risk of data corruption.

What is the function of SIM card in telephone?

The function of a SIM card is relatively simple. It's not a super advanced item that controls your phone, rather, it is basically nothing more than a storage device for information useable by yourself and your cellular carrier. It has limited memory to save this information. And this 'storage device' is also the reason you can use someone elses phone, put your SIM card into it and have all of your phone numbers and information about your account on their phone. This is of course unless their cellular provider has SIM-locked their phones. Anyways, long story short

SIM-Card = storage device.

Is nvidia geforce 9300 good for AutoCAD?

Generally, AutoCAD and other design software will work better on a workstation graphics card than a gaming one, such as the 9300. However, these tend to be more expensive and will perform worse at things such as gaming.

That being said, the 9300 should work fine for most drawings, but very intense and complicated ones may begin to tax the card and the computer may slow down. I run Solidworks and AutoCAD on a 6800 (which is a bit more powerful than the 9300) with no issues for the most part. Solidworks does begin to struggle fairly easily but AutoCAd is a bit less taxing. Id recommend at least a 9500GT for decent performance($50)

try the ATI Firepro V3700 for the lowest cost workstation card ($80)

Who uses Cad and why?

it is mostly used by architects in designing models.

How do you convert pdf to dwg?

Method 1: Add PDF OLE

  • Click "Insert" on toolbar of AutoCAD and choose "OLE Object…"
  • Select "Create New" and from the list of object type choose "Adobe Acrobat Document"
  • From the file selection dialogue box, find your PDF and open it in AutoCAD to insert as OLE

Method 2: Raster image XREF

To add a raster image XREF, you need to get the image of the PDF file. If it is a raster PDF, things will be much easier and you just need to copy the whole raster image from the PDF and copy it into Windows Paint. Save the image and use it. If it is not a raster PDF and all the lines in the PDF file are vector lines, you can find ways to convert the whole drawing into images. For example, use your "Print Screen" button on keyboard.

  • When you get the image of the PDF page, click "Insert" on toolbar of AutoCAD and choose "Raster Image Reference…"
  • Find the image file and load it into AutoCAD
  • Specify the settings and it is now referenced

Method 3: PDF XREF in AutoCAD 2010

For users who are using AutoCAD 2010, they can directly add PDF XREF.

  • Click "Insert" on toolbar of AutoCAD and choose "PDF Reference…"
  • Locate the PDF and add it into AutoCAD
  • Specify the settings and it is now referenced

* Method 4: Import PDF into AutoCAD

To import PDF into AutoCAD, you need a 3rd party importer or converter. Please refer to the recommended links blow.

In general, there are three major categories that should be addressed in the following order:

  1. AutoCAD plugin

This is an application which relies on AutoCAD ARXObject and users need to install a full version of AutoCAD. It is because AutoCAD LT is not featured with ARX Object Enabler. AutoDWG PDFin is recommended.

  2. PDF to DWG converter

There are five key features of PDF to DWG Converter: (1) conver PDF to DWG (2) convert any parts of PDF files. (3) High quality and accurate (4) two versions: AutoCAD add-in version & Stand alone version (5) easy to use

  3. Raster PDF to DWG converter (raster to vector)

Converters which converts raster PDF into editable DWG uses various of technologies to get raster into vector. Normally a converter traces lines in the PDF and draw lines into DWG. Output quality of DWG/DXF from raster to vector depends on the quality of the original PDF for resolution, page size, clearance, color depth, etc. AutoDWG converter is recommended.

Is CAD a help for a designer?

Of course! Specially if you are a product designer.

With Computer-Aided-Design software you can create 3D digital models of your designed product.

It helps you to better visualize your concept, see and fix the function or shape errors and improve the overall design. It can also help you to create the parts, joints, the assembly and the technical drawings of the designed product - a necessary step for manufacturing.

It is a very important tool for any professional designer.
