It was made to get the most Battery life it could get. The hard drive is solid state (SSD) so it's much faster, (use's no moving parts, less battery use).
It has the full features of a "standard" computer but the draw backs of a limited accessible computer. It has no CD/DVD player so you need an external DVD player to access a CD/DVD. It has a NON-user replaceable battery that only Apple is able to replace at it's "Normal" end of life. It has a more expensive and "smaller" (by todays standards) SSD hard drive. The Ram is NON-expandable. You can't decide later to add more Ram to it. It's soldered in at the factory.

I do not buy a computer from a place unless they offer an in store warranty. If you but from Best Buy you can get the best protection out there, you can get accidental damage on your plan along with a replacement battery, and ac adapter.

In my option, building a computer will be the best option because it will be cheaper, and you will know all components if needed to upgrade.
