Why does data need to be stored?
"For later use" would be the quickest answer. The data stored maybe the result of an operation, it maybe the address of where to store the result or instruction. In your computer there is a starting point. The computer loads an address where initial instructions are located. These instruction usually flushes the memory, takes inventory of its Basic Input Output System and must remember if it is to communicate anything. Usually in typical PCs, it checks itself out- where is the memory, how much memory, devices connected (printer, display, disks etc). Dependent of many things, particularly the clock, it fetches instructions on how to read the disk and get instructions & data.
If data is erased or changed prior to a execution, the computer may not function well due to bad data such as erroneous instruction, crazy & random addresses ... most likely the program will create an error condition so the CPU twiddles its thumbs in a random manner billions of times.
How much does it cost for a wireless router?
Depends on which kind of wireless cards your are running. There is Wireless B/G and Wireless N.
The b/g cost about $20 if you go to a retail store, but sometimes you can find them for around $5-$10 at second hand stores or sites like Craigslist.com.
If you are running wireless N which is the newest one, then you are looking at $50+ at retail stores.
My hp laptop's battery is no longer charging?
Laptop batteries usually have 3 maximum 4 years (sometimes even less) of life. And at some moment it has to be just replaced.
This is a very general question. There are many types of data storage devices, but the most common storage device that holds data instructions and information we think about today in the modern personal computer is the Hard Disk Device (HDD).
The HDD is an example of a magnetic storage media. Other example are tape drives, and floppy disks. Other types of storage are Optical (CD's and DVD's) and solid state devices like flash drives.
When was Aubuchon Hardware created?
Aubuchon was founded in Fitchburg, Massachusetts in 1908. Aubuchon is a store chain only in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut and New York. Aubuchon is said to be more successful than stores like Lowe's and Home Depot.
Every once in a while somebody comes along and think outside the box about something rather conventional, like the headphone for instance. One of those people is James Hildebrandt, a mechanical engineer with graduate training in acoustics and methods to simulate engineering physics. He's the founder and CEO of Psyko Audios Labs, which is releasing the Psyko 5.1 PC Gaming Headset System. The device uses airflow to simulate a home theater in your head (calling it the Waveguide system), bypassing Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and avoiding latency altogether. It aims to deliver naturally immersive sound and precision directionality.

Figure 1: The Psyko 5.1 PC Gaming Headset System. The revolutionary part about the device's design is that the speakers are not placed in the ear cups, for starters. They are placed above the user's head in the bridge of the headphone. The WaveGuide system directs all the front sounds to flow past the front of the ears, and all the rear sounds to flow past the rear of the ears just like how sounds interact with a person's ears in a room system.

Describe different types of primary and secondary memory of a computer?
Primary memory is that which is directly connected to the motherboard for the CPU to process, meaning your RAM modules. Secondary memory is located on the hard drive in a virtual memory (called a page file or swap file) when the RAM modules have no more room to store data that is still running, but still needs to recall some as soon as it can swap out what processes have the higher priority.
When the RAM and page file are full, you will notice a lag in computer performance as it struggles to process so much data at one time. If it exceeds the limits of your memory and processor, the system may crash. A fixed large swap file and more memory makes the CPU work less and a better, faster CPU will keep the memory demands lower. This is why more memory and a faster CPU is needed for more complex data processing. To reduce processing even further, a dedicated graphics card with it's own memory and built in CPU that handles the graphic processing allows for the RAM and CPU to work much less, making the computer much more faster.
What does magnetic ink character reader mean?
magnetic ink character reader as defined by the ANSI is the common machine language specification for paper based payment transfer data.
The MICR technology is primilarily used by banking industry to facitilate the processing cheques.the technology allow the computer to read the information such as accont no. off printed document unlike barcodes or similar technologies . however MICR character are easily read by human
Difference between Ethernet and internet?
Ethernet is a set of standards for physically connecting computers in a local area network. In terms of OSI network layers, Ethernet provides only the physical layer and the data link layer.
The Internet is a global, physical network of millions of computers that communicate by sending and receiving packets of data. The Internet supports many different communication protocols for different applications: e-mail, file transfer, domain resolution, remote terminals and hypertext. In terms of network layers, Internet standards define the network layer and transport layer.
Internet services can be carried on Ethernet connections for short distances but other data link technologies are required to construct wide-area networks.

Can you download movies from harddrive to a flashdrive?
Yes. But do to space considerations, as well as the relatively slow speed of writing to a USB drive, you may want to consider a different medium.
Is a computer chip is a mineral?
A computer chip is a mineral, it is a Silicon based creation. Silicon(Si) can be mined from the Earths crust and is found in rock crystals.
Although it could be argued that a computer chip is an animal: a living organism characterized by voluntary movement
Living in a constant state of being alive or dead its transistors taking value as on or off, 1 or 0 and having the ability to act or function independently via the code it is being issued and making voluntary decisions via sets of rules to move data.
Whilst having a flow of electric charge " its ALIVE ! " ..much like our brains and that's pretty much what a computer chip is
What are input and output devices explain briefly?
an output device is something you can see or hear, like the monitor or the speakers. an input device is a mouse or a keyboard, were you are inputting information intto the system. an output device is something you can see or hear, like the monitor or the speakers. an input device is a mouse or a keyboard, were you are inputting information intto the system.
Its called the backside bus or cache bus. There's also the ATC bus. Back Side Bus Front side bus or cache bus Back Side Bus
What does a Optical Mark Reader do?
A special scanning device that can read carefully placed pencil marks on specially designed documents. This is an input device.
Can you use a server as a normal PC?
Yes, you can. Just install whatever operating system you're wanting on the server and use it like normal. I know of a few people that have done this and I want to try it but I don't have a couple thousand dollars to blow on a server.
If you are fortunate enough to come by a SERVER UNIT, then all you have to do is wipe the hard drive(s), Format it/them and install your operating system onto the primary hard drive. Check the BIOS to determine this, make sure you have enough space...at least 10 Gigabytes, which a SERVER should easily have...and set the primary drive to boot up first...easy.
You can hook more than one printer up to your system. Your default printer is basically the one that your document automatically goes to when you click on print. Whichever printer you use the most is the one you want to set as your default. It is usaully going to be the printer that you use to do basic tasks like print emails, letters, or pages that you just want a hard copy of. You would leave more specialized printers or printers that use expenive inks as printers that you switch to, instead of your default.
Is it safe to keep your computer on for a long while?
Mine is on for 24 hours straight, but i turn it off eventually Turning your computer off and on repeatedly actually causes more "wear and tear" on it than leaving it run continuously. It's still a good idea to reboot it periodically. One reason is to clear up any memory that might not have been fully released by the application that last used it. A buildup of unreleased memory will deteriorate your computer's performance over time. I usually reboot mine every 2 weeks or so. Also be sure and periodically run scandisk and defragmenter on your system to keep it in top shape.
