What is a SATA Expansion Card?

Serial ATA is a type of hard drive connector and standard. Instead of a 40-pin parallel ATA plug, is uses around 6 wires to send the data in a serial fashion. If you don't have SATA sockets or not enough for your needs, then you have to install an expansion card with SATA connectors. They are available for different types of expansion sockets, support different SATA standards (generation 3 is the current standard), and have different numbers of SATA sockets.

What is a serial wire used for?

A serial wire can be used for several uses. Mainly, it's used for basic communication between different devices. The main advantage is the fact that serial communication can use only three wires. Parallel requires several more, typically eight, or sixteen, plus signalling, and traditionally is faster. But for simple communication between devices, which could be computers or other devices, serial communication can simplify things. Serial communication can also be used for great distances. The telegraph was serial communication. Hence "AT&T"!

Which hardware component will you use to save illustrations onto the computer?

11 What is a comment line How is a comment line noted within a file?

Why computer memory is in multiples of two?

If you are referring to how the numerical amounts assigned to computer memory (RAM) are always divisible by two, it is because we use a Base16 system in computers.

At the lowest level everything breaks down to Binary code. Binary consists of only 2 characters 0, and 1. A single binary digit is referred to as a 'bit'. The next step up is grouping 8 bits together, which makes a byte. The next step past that is exactly 1024 bytes, which makes a kilobyte.

So RAM is a volatile storage for binary data, so its storing these 0's and 1's, which are equally portioned, therefore the RAM must follow the same numbering convention.

Can you recommend a dual processor motherboard preferably an MSI board that is reasonably new?

MSI has not produced many dual processor boards. The Athlon socket motherboard for MP processors is for 266 DDR FSB chips only. It may pose a problem if the user wanted to upgrade to something better, as the chip would likely not support a 333 FSB or beyond cpu.

However, there are some newer dual opteron motherboards that look promising. Try "googling" 'dual opteron motherboard' and see what results come up. Bear in mind that AMD is going to release a dual core CPU which, in effect, are two cpus on one chip.

Is quad core 2.2 GHZ sufficient for gaming?

yes....but as far as I am aware, very few games will utilse more than ONE core and as such you'll get better results with a dual core with higher clock speeds, also they are cheaper.

Saying that its far more important to spend as_much_as_you_can_afford on a good GPU as this will have a much bigger impact on your gaming performance. (graphics processing unit)

if you're building from scratch make sure you get a motherboard with a decent Front Side Bus and a Power Supply Unit that will be able to power it all.

What would you buy SanDisk or Ipod?

I believe Ipod has much more reliability, not only with their compatability, but with there constant updates from Apple. Better firmware, and Itune's helps. This is also the same with Zune and its software. Ipod can also be very cheap with there products, and a 120 gigabyte Zune is only 249 in Canada (convert if you want to know for American dollar).

SanDisk makes some good items, but if you want a really dedicated company, go for Ipod or Zune.

What does thed r in DVD-r stand for?

The "r" in the DVD-r means that the disc can only be recorded once. If using a DVD-RW the "rw" means that the disc can be erased and used time and time again. Hence "r" for record, and "rw" for read/write. hope this helps!

What does Integrated Speakers Mean?

Yes, some companies will have that software on the CD you get with the scanner which will scan and print all in one go.

If it does not then your other option is to scan the document to the computer then print it. It's can be long winded if there are multiple pages but it is possible.

How do we classify input devices?

A computer's keyboard is an example of an input device, in that it puts data into a computer when the keys are pressed. An output device example is the monitor or screen that can show visually the data as it is typed.

A keylogger can be a hardware device or a software program.

What are the disadvantages of the floppy disk?

Floppy disks are typically fragile and error-prone, so they are not suitable for long-term archiving. While the individual cost of a floppy disk is usually low, the per-megabyte cost of a floppy is extraordinary. Here are the per-megabyte costs of various devices, based on their price on Newegg:

1 TB hard drive (Seagate Barracuda) - .01 cents

DVD-R (based on 50-disc spindle) - .04 cents

CD-R (based on 50-disc spindle) - .22 cents

Compare that to the price of floppies (based on box of 10 from Wal-Mart):

Floppy disk - 33.8 cents.
