Mind it that Y=A+B+C is a logical operation in our case i.e. OR operation. It's not an arithmetic operation (i.e. not a sum operation).

Why is home row called home row?

In my younger days,we had row houses. They were all in a row and all looked the same. as in mill hill houses. The mills would build houses and rent them to the mill workers. There is an old saying "I owe my soul to the company store" this also came from the mill hill villages where the mills owned the houses, stores, everything!!

ADDED: As a Transatlantic difference, if these what I think they are - all joined into a long, single building - in the UK they are called "terraced" houses. Although an 18C concept they did become particularly associated with 19C industrial (not just mill) towns, but a lot of modern housing developments now are of terraced form.

The "company store" ethos was used in Britain too, but its inherent unfairness led to its legal abolishment under a 19C law I think called the "Truck Acts".

I have a dell inspiron 6400 its got a a 1.73Ghz Processor i would like to upgrade it to a 2.4 Ghz processor could i do that?

Your laptop probably doesn't support higher than an 667 MT/s FSB, so no. The fastest processor that would likely work in your laptop would be either a Core 2 Duo T5850 or a Pentium Dual Core T3400, both at about 2.1 GHz.

What is considered when purchasing hardware?

It depends. are you talking about buying like add-on cards? buying a headset? upgrading to a blu-ray? or building an entire computer? Since you weren't very specific, i'll answer all 4.

1. For add on cards (sound cards, graphics cards, etc) there aren't very many limits , but there are some. Such as power supply (do NOT want to be under powered), and slot availability (pci/pci-e).

2. for headsets, as long as the manufacturer of said headset makes the drivers for whatever operating system you're running, you're good.

3. blu-ray drives, or any other optical drives, don't have very many limits either. Make sure your power supply has the proper cables to provide power, make sure you have the proper data cables to connect to your mobo. and of course make sure it fits in your case.

4. Building a computer is obviously more complicated than the other 3 but not too difficult at all. i would say start with deciding which processor you want and then build off that. (cpu cooler if necessary, mo.bo., ram, hdd/ssd, graphics card, odd, power supply, etc.) for the processor it really all depends on what you are going to be doing with said computer. if you are only going to be word processing or surfing the web, a core i3 would be sufficient. however the other extreme would be video editing and 3D modeling for which i would say ATLEAST a core i7 2600k, but more likely a i7 3930k. if you're somewhere in between well get something in between.

Hope I helped,

What is a processor clock speed?

Here is a short explanation.

Clock rate or clock speed is the speed at which a microprocessor (CPU) executes instructions. Clock speeds are typically expressed in megahertz (MHz) or gigahertz ((GHz). A single clock cycle (usually shorter than a nanosecond in modern non-embedded microprocessors) toggles between a logical zero and a logical one state.

Which is better a flash drive or a CD-r?

One cannot be said to really be "better" than the other. When a CD-R has been recorded to, it exhibits all the properties of a traditional CD-ROM. A pressed CD-ROM has a slightly higher theoretical lifespan, but real-world conditions place them at about equal rates of deterioration.

How many kilobytes are in a gigabyte?

There are actually two answers to this, depending on what method you want to use to determine the answer.

Standard definition The standard definition for kilobyte is 1,000 (10^3) bytes, just like there are 1,000 meters in a kilometre.

Likewise, the standard definition for gigabyte is 1,000,000,000 (10^9) bytes. Dividing, this means there are 1,000,000 (1 million) kilobytes (kB) in a gigabyte (GB).

This is the definition used for hard drives, portable memory drives (memory cards, USB drives), DVDs, Blu-ray disks, and most measures of performance. Some software (such as Mac OS X and the Linux kernel) uses this definition when displaying file and disk sizes. Memory manufacturer usage Memory manufacturers use a non-standard system that conflicts with the way everyone else measures. By their definition, a kilobyte (written "KB") is 1,024 (2^10) bytes, and a gigabyte (written "GB") is 1,073,741,824 (2^30) bytes.

The correct name for 1,024 bytes is "kilobinary byte" or "kibibyte". The correct name for 1,073,741,824 bytes is "gigabinary byte" or "gibibyte".

This is approximately equal to the above, but you may need to know it to figure out exact numbers:

By this definition, 1 "GB" = 1,048,576 "KB" More correctly, 1 GiB = 1,048,576 KiB

This definition is used by memory manufacturers and some software, like Microsoft Windows.

Does an '3.5mm male audio jack to female USB' adapter exist?

nope. no such thing on this planet. not true, it does exsist. i purchased a set of camera video glasses that uses the 3.5mm (1/8) male to usb connection. I lost that piece so i had to substitute or the ipod 4gig charger which uses the same 3.5mm to usb connection. Its hard to find but it does exsist.

Does Disk Defragment makes your computer faster?

Yes.. it reduces the time taken by the Hard drive to search for a file . thus, improving performance..

when you delete files and copy/make new ones.. they may appear sorted ( as in folders and disk drives).. but inside the Hard drive they are not in the same place but scattered over the magnetic disks (platters).

So when you open a program.. the hard disk has to look for the essential files all over the platters and hard disks have 1 - 3 platters.. so searching all of them is time taking

after the Defrag all the files are organised and when u open the same program the hard drive has to look only in one location to get all the essential files..reducing access time.

Can you go on the internet with a tablet?

What are the advantages of computer processing over manual processing?

Well, the main advantage is that computers are very good at doing boring, repetitive calculations very quickly. Modern computers can perform trillions of calculations per second. A normal human is lucky if they can average one calculation per second manually. they are accurate ,

Why is it important to control access to hardware and data?

It is important to control access to hardware and data to limit the amount of information that any one employee might have. It is also a good idea to control hardware and data to make sure confidentiality is being protected.

Why do you need a power supply?

Power supplies are need by many electronic devices for several reasons. Most devices need one or more DC voltages. Only AC power is available at a common household outlet.

Power supplies, among other things, usually must convert AC power to DC power.
AC = Alternating Current
DC = Direct Current
VDC = Volts of Direct Current

Computers, for example, need a power supply to convert 120 VAC line power to 6 VDC, 9 VDC and possibly 12 VDC. You will understand this more fully once you get further into the study of things like trigonometry, the calculus, basic circuit design, etc.

What are the good things about the crt monitor?

At this point, I would say that a CRT had no advantages over a LCD monitor. The LCD is probably cheaper, it takes up less space, is easier on the eyes, and provides better revolutions.
