Yes and yes. "dvi-d with hdcp" Here is my understanding of it all. First dvi-d means digital signal only. hdcp (HD) means High-definition (CP) means copy protected i.e. you can't record the signal. As for the other part of the question. Is it able to be viewed like a tv and do you need to subscribe to hd with your cable provider?" Yes but, you have to have a cable box with a DVI output connector. Or some newer DVD players have dvi output. You didn't say what the name of your cable service is so i don't know if you have to subscribe (pay that is ) for HDTV or not. I'm on Cox cable and get HDTV for free.

Pixels are a measurement of the resolution of an image. For example, old laser printers used to print in 300x300 pixels per inch, then came 600x600 prints. I'm sure you're asking "Why are you talking about laser printers when I asked about pictures?" Because the premise is the same. An image that is 1 inch by 1 inch that use the 600x600 resolution would have a file size roughly twice that of a 300x300 resolution.

All of that to tell you that no one can really tell you, you will have to find the resolution of the image, find out how many pixels are in a square inch of that resolution, then multiple it by the size image you have.

Most likely water damage.Water got into one of the outer layers of the display.Try putting indirect heat on it. No hairdryers! Will absolutely destroy it. Try turning up the heat at home. The screen needs to dry for awhile, like a week. So no turning the monitor on. You can use the computer if you can somehow project the monitor on another screen or your TV.

If you do not know how to remove the cover then you shouldent be trying too. If you do not know what you are doing you can fry it. touching any internal comonet without an anti static wistband and standing pad grouded properly can damage the moniter. Also you can get serious shock badly even when the device is unpluged.

remove the rubber covers in the the back of the moniter. Remove the screws witch is more than likely a hex diver, then use a clip off to release the safety clips.

If your PC tower is not communicating with your monitor, check all of your wires and check to see that your drivers are all up to date.
