La Jota, at one time was the most popular dance performed by the Spanish Senoritas and Caballeros in Spain. Apparently, they brought it with them to many areas of the world, including a town called Moncada, Tarlac in the Philippines. The people from Moncada adapted the dance and through time, created their own version uniquely Filipino, calling it La Jota Moncadena. costumes can range for this type of dancing. I compete and i have seen many variations. Normally you will see sparkles maybe hats. If you do musical theater then you might see costumes that resemble the character that the dancer is suppose to be playing. An example is that in one of my jazz/ musical theater i do i have to dress up like a boy because were are suppose to act like we are going to prom. There really is no specific answer its more along the lines of what your dance is about and what would show the story off to the audience better.
