What was the impact of deforestation as reflected in environment in the 18th 20th century?
One of the negative impacts of deforestation is the destruction of habitats for various species. It also leads to climate change and the increase of greenhouse gases.
Reasons why do people cut down trees?
Either the wood is needed to make paper or planks and boards. Or the land is needed for farming.
What human activities affect the nature reserve?
deforestation which leads to soil erosion, and the animals losing their habitat
What caused the detoriation of the Tubbataha Reef?
At present, many coral reefs not only in our country but also in other parts of the world are being destroyed. How?
1. The reefs are being mined to be used as building materials.
2. Some reefs are being buried in silt because of the erosion of mountains and hills.
3. Reefs are polluted by sewage that is drained into the sea.
4. Fishermen use dynamite to blow up coral reefs so that they will have more fish to catch. Some use muro-ami, a destructive method of catching fish. Cyanide Fishing contributes to the death of corals.
5. any people break up corals and sell the pieces to tourists and other people who use these as decorations in their homes.
Why is cattle ranching causing deforestation?
It's not the ranching itself that causes deforestation, it's the clearing of land for agricultural purposes includingranching. Ranching is not the big sore thumb in the equation and the main reason why deforestation is occurring, you know.
What is deforestation and deforestation?
Deforestation means people cut down or even burn trees to clear for land for plantation. It is very cruel as it removed lot's of species habitat, and also trees are the source of oxygen. If we kill more trees, lesser carbon dioxide will be converted into oxygen and that will lead to global warming.
What suffers the most from deforestation?
Habitat loss means that animals and plants suffer the most in the short term. But in the long run,we humans also suffer as we are interacting with the carbon cycle and this contributes to global warming
How deforestation accelerates soil erosion?
yes, afforestation is the planting back of plants which holds the soil together.More of these projects would build back many plantations.
Trees, like plantation pine, which grow quickly are renewable. Rainforest trees, that take hundreds of years to grow are not renewable.
A:I think in the way you mean all wood is renewable because it is a plant that can be replaced, or in the case of coppicing (and pollarding) re-grown. However you are discussing deforestation and habitat loss so I will add this -In coppiced/ pollarded woodland the ecosystem has developed around the wood cutting cycles, it is rare that an entire wood will be felled at once so species either move on to areas of the wood that fit their niche or go into dormancy until the conditions are right again (for example birds will move around the wood over the cycle, daffodils however thrive around years 3 to 5 and will then remain dormant for the next few years).
On the other hand, in deforested areas where this is not the practice either because it is not a part of the local tradition or the tree species cannot be coppiced (conifers, for example) then even if the area is replanted it is very hard to bring back the habitat destroyed.
What are the effects of kaingin system?
The kaingin system of farming, cutting and burning trees to prepare for plantations, has many harmful effects. The most common known effects are landslides, lower oxygen levels due to the destruction of trees and plants, and flashfloods. There are also studies being conducted regarding the kaingin system being a cause of global warming.
Does a tree release co2 whenit is cut down?
A tree takes in CO2, It gives off O2 or oxygen during daylight. The process is called photosynthesis.
During the night a tree's life processes create carbon dioxide.
What effect does Deforestation have on living things?
living things are found in forests and jungles and most of them lives on top of trees they are disappearing as we cut down trees so the animals will lose their homes to get protection from .some animals live both on land and on top of trees after they lose their homes they can build another but since we cut down trees there would be more carbon dioxide a type a green house gas which causes global warming . then the animals will also be not able to adapt to their surroundings but what about those animals in the polar you ask they will also be not able to adapt to their surroundings because of global warming there would be more heat trapped in earth so it causes polar ice caps to melt and there will be loss living things
Do you lose a percent of oxygen when you cut down trees?
Simply cutting a tree wouldn't consume oxygen, other than what you'd use while breathing or the oxygen your chainsaw consumes. You would lose the potential to create oxygen that the tree would otherwise do.
Paper starts with fibers. Wood is the most common source, but cotton, linen and others can be used and often are. The fibers are mixed together into slurry. Chemicals are used to clean and whiten or color the slurry. The slurry is laid out on a screen and the water drains away leaving a layer of fibers, patterns in this screen leave watermarks that can be seen when you hold the paper up to the light. These are rolled smooth and dried and then cut into the appropriate size. The production of pulp paper can be an ecology and environmentaly friendly process, that insures both renewable habitat. The biggest potential loss is the water used in processing. == == == == A little more than one third of a tree is needed to make 3,000 sheets of copy paper. The actual answer of course depends on the tree and on the type of paper. For more details see the related link to Conservatree. Nearly 4 billion trees worldwide are cut down each year for paper, representing about 35% of all harvested trees. Paper is one of the easiest products to recycle. Although paper manufacturers typically manage and replant forests that they harvest, you can reduce the need to cut as many trees by recycling paper and cardboard.
How much of the Amazon rainforest has been cut down?
I am not sure how much in acres, but twenty years ago, the tropical rainforests covered 14% of the Earth's surface; today it is less than 6%. One and one-half acres are destroyed every second, and experts estimate we lose 137 plants, animal and insect species per day. Here is an article with references about the cutting down of the rain forests. http://factoidz.com/cutting-down-the-rainforest-have-we-lost-the-cure-for-cancer/
What is a way of using resources at a rate that does not deplete them?
There is, currently, no possible way to utilise resources without using them up. The purpose of using them in the first place is to gain their qualities.
How can the earth reduce its carbon footprint?
by simply not flying there
apparently the UK governmental scheme of "turn your heating down by 1 degree for a year" would actually save much much less carbon than you would burn by taking ONE extra short flight (say intracontinental)
public transport is actually carbon neutral for most folk, in that the train or bus would normally run regardless, so if you're on it or not makes no difference to THAT carbon but it would mean you wouldn't need to add any more.
What is the the impact of colonialism on the environment?
Colonialism began with the objective of exploiting the natural resources without sustainable management. It led to destruction of wildlife habitats, especially in the forests. Mining and industrial activity led to the pollution of the air, water, and soil, as did the building of transportation systems. The increased demands of the new cities and ports led to more energy production and its related environmental effects.
Did you mean: deforrestation? That would be the clearing by natual or man related of forrested areas.
How do you get your husband to stop putting you down?
Well if you are talking about ur husband I would tell him to stop, but if he doesnt then ask again a bit harsher and then the last time be firm and strict. If he doesn't stop, he's not worth it. THat's my oppinion
In what way will deforestation affect water supply?
the water supply will b affected by deforestation by the process called transpiration in which the water droplets on leaves evaporate as sun rays fall on them and these tiny droplet after evaporating form clouds and again comes as rain after condensation and this process goes on and on.
How does human activity affect tigers?
tigers used to roam free in the most of Asia, however humans have used they tigers organs and fur for trade (very valuable in eastern medicine)
romans have uses tigers as opponents in events/fights
as the population is spreading, people start small communities in their habitat, they will often kill the tigers because they kill their cattle ( no wonder if you put food right in front of them)
and logging decreases the size of the tigers habitat, also many tigers die each year due to collisions with vehicles (lorry's)
What can be the effect of illegal logging?
Illegal logging mainly cause
Trees hold the soil to make it more stronger and prevents land slide.
Flash floods can happen because trees retain the water and prevent harm to people.
Global warming is mainly caused by too much Carbon Dioxide that traps heat and making it more hot to melt the ice in north pole and south pole. Trees use carbon dioxide to make their food so if there are many trees they will prevent carbon dioxide to go up in our atmosphere.
